JIO STB had an automatic reset yesterday and there goes all my sideloaded apps. Anyone in similar situation ?

Yup, same happened here today

I guess you guys can consider yourselves lucky the sideloads (possible only with older firmwares anyway) lasted this long. Frankly, it was a question of when, not if, they would do this. No way they'll allow anyone to break out of their completely locked-down environment and make use of the Android box's full capabilities.

@aayush31 - So it's not just me then. I get the closed ecosystem they are going for but the rate at which apps are being released and the business sense behind it doesn't seem all consumer friendly.

Sideload ing apps is not 'cracking'. Since the apps are long awaited and not already available users are forced to sideload. And there is absolutely no technical reason of not having a playstore disabling sideload option.

But they simply don't want us to install any outside app from any other source. That's why this update and factory reset. Hopefully we get all those needed apps soon.
It's been more than 1 month when they showed glimpse of Netflix app inside JioTv+ section in their AGM, still it's unavailable to us.

The question is why?
Like everything else with them it no doubt comes down to money. Unless mota bhai has a revenue-sharing deal with the app developer don't ever expect anything to make its way to your box.

Hopefully we get all those needed apps soon.
All the apps we need from the Play Store? What optimism! Keep dreaming dude... 👍😂

Then make your own list of needs and urge them to add those for you.😏
Or you are free to choose any other ISP, if you having so much problems with their approach.
Complaining and arguing on this over here will not solve any of your purpose.

Same as taking their side won't solve your purpose. Jio is the most customer unfriendly company. Even airtel listens to customer when they are wrong and going against Tos. But Jio doesn't care because no one has guts even in consumer forum to take on jio.
If you like their approach so much, let me ask you to not give your advice to others who are raising their voice.
