I have been trying to connect with my friend using Parsec which can be used to play local multilayer ganes online. It attempts to make a peer to peer connection between the hosts and therefore uses UPNP. I tried to turn on UPNP in BSNL device (Netlink GPON/EPON) but it didn't work. Then I tried port forwarding but even after setting rules for virtual server, I am not able to telnet on the ports I forwarded. Please help me if someone has successfully achieved port forwarding in BSNL ftth

Try zerotier

Tried zerotier, worked but it increased latency. We're trying to play fifa, the game gets unplayable when zerotier is used.

Just setup softether VPN server on a pc and follow the instructions given. Ask your friends to join that vpn server built on your machine. This should be a direct connection and latency would be low. Don't use the azure vpn option there or you will face latency issues.

What do you mean relaying data?

Zerotier tries to punch a hole in the NAT to directly get data from one device to another. It usually glass around a minute to establish a direct connection. Before this data will be relayed through Zerotier servers until hole punch can be achieved or fails.

@sj29
Hi, I am also using BSNL, while trying to connect a friend system using Parsec , I am not able to connect. Getting "Failed to make Peer to Peer connection". Help me with this if you have resolved.

ah, which isp is your friend on? you could try pinging their public IP to see if latency is high.

Though >300ms means ZeroTier is likely relaying instead of doing direct connection.
