So, guys I recently posted about getting Excitel connection, where I talked about installation charges and the default router provided by them. You guys were really helpful and agreed that installation is free from Excitel's side but it's LCO who charges it. Hence you don't have any choice but thankfully I was able to bargain the price down to RS. 500 from Rs.700.
Honestly, I was only disappointed by the installation charges plus the LCO said I had to take a minimum 3 months plan. I was also worried to take their router cause when I asked him can I use my router he said ONU won't give you speed. I don't know why he said that but again I had no choice. After using it, I can say that Rs. 2000 router is quite good.
Anyways, let's start the review. First things first, speed is pretty stable and is always above 100Mbps. Both up and down. It's pure FTTH and I got my connection within 1.5 days. So I would say installation speed was excellent. LCO seems decent and installation guys were also pretty good and friendly. They said that they will repair everything free of cost, like fiber cut, router problem (excluding physical damage obviously), and all.
But was told if the splicing that is done at your home (yellow patch cable+fiber cable coming at your home) is damaged I would have to pay Rs. 200 that's basically because they would have to bring the splicing machine. So be extremely cautious about handling that little JC Box. Now let's talk about stats. Here are my recent speed test results:
I have also used some International servers plus single-mode (Indian Server) just for anyone who is curious about that. I have used torrent and I get a consistent speed of 12.1 MB/s+. In this forum, I have seen so many people complaining about ping in games. So here are the stats for that as well: I got 30-32 ping CODM, 30-35 in PUBGM, 80-85 in Valorant, 35-40 in CS: GO. And these are all stable with no packet loss whatsoever (The graph that's shown in Valorant was flat). Plus I was gaming on Wi-Fi and I think using LAN cable will also help.
Now, the only thing left to test is Customer Service. Since I have no experience so cannot comment on that. Hopefully, I never had to deal with that. I will update this thread with my experience regarding downtimes and everything for sure. The only thing I am a little bit disappointed with is the range of 5GHz. And I know the 5Ghz's range is lower than 2.4Ghz. You only get 50 Mbps on 2.4Ghz maybe you might get more on 200/300Mbps plan. Or maybe you get half the speed of your plan on Single band. I can't really comment on that.
I was just wondering maybe another router might have had more range. But then again I would have to pay more for router+onu. So, I am quite satisfied with what I got and just hoping for good customer service. Anyways, that's it guys, let me know your thoughts on this.
