But MTNL almost never responds to complaints of dead phones so what will happen to customers of any company who depends ONLY on these two for connectivity?

It is all show talk, media byte. As someone who knows how much this minister hates MTNL, he is very much against revival of MTNL.
This person even told the retired MTNL workers demanding their rightful pension to go to rajiv Gandhi and ask from him.

Mps and mla have already complained about poor service and their request to move out from MTNL, to which theminister has agreed to.

@Lamborghini I personally don't have any experience with MTNL but this seems outlandish, what''s the source of this claim?
I've seen the level of services BSNL gives to govt employees especially those at higher-ups for e.g. how the Judge at his own whim calls the head of office at exchange just for minor fault fixing and BSNL do send their guys at GOD SPEED....(seen it personally)

I think this must be reasonably similar with MTNL , they might be able to deny services to a common customer or make them run around hoops but I don't think they have it in them to do the same to MPs/MLA lest the minister himself. ( or face the wrath)

@ijsa Two leased lines mate? 🤯

What do you do?

LL working but broadband not working since the power problem hit the mtnls
Can anyone confirm that only broadband services are not working and LL is working?

Source, the representatives of the pensioners group of which my father is a member.
You won't find this written anywhere as it was spoken verbally when the group pressed with their demand for timely release of pension as it was their only source of income. One thing led to other and there was a time when the idea of dragging the minister to court was an option. Better sense prevailed.
Yup, you are right regarding biasness while providing services to common man vjz a vjz the state(include anyone associated with the Govt, lawmakers, judiciary). This thing pinched me the most when I tried to get some things done without the knowledge of my father. I agree to an extent that this is one primary reason why both these institutions went down the hole.

@popcorn Broadband was off Sunday, Monday. It has resumed for me since Monday night. I don't use landline so can't comment on it.
Give a visit to SDE/DE in your area.

Still Internet not working , but landline working ...
Adsl line status is stuck on Activating and tried on my other D-Link ADSL as well. Same problem there.
