I have applied for Jio trial...If it works well.. Its going to be bye-bye to MTNL. (or switch to its lowest plan for few month and then bye bye)
Even their lowest plan costs around ₹284 now a days in Delhi

Well JIO plan that I would go for is 399Rs (30mbps + no FUP + unlimited calls) and MTNL mumbai lowest landline plan is 199Rs.

My currernt MTNL plan is 600Rs (12mbps + 110GB FUP + 150 calls)

So overall I will save 2Rs (haha!) with additional benefits.

My only worry is that JIO will first capture market and then start putting restrictions or start increasing rates. But thats going to be couple of years. Lets see.

On August 5 my uncle's landline was dead so he registered an online complaint. 2 days later, his landline number got exchanged. Some other person's landline number was given to him and his number just kept ringing. Till now that issue has not been solved. Nobody in customer care picks up the phone, nobody responding to online complaints...🙁
The landline issue has still not been solved. My uncle is using his mobile hotspot for work since the past 1 month. I even registered a complaint on pgportal 10 days back (even sent 3 reminders) but no action has been taken yet. Even for disconnecting the connection, whom should he contact? Nobody picks up the phone. Neither the customer care nor the local MTNL office. Nobody responding to mails. Can someone please suggest what to do? How to raise a disconnection request?

You should contact SDO at local exchange to surrender your landline connection..... you would have to physically visit the exchange with all the equipments installed by MTNL at your house along with some applications, payment of up to current bill etc. Details you will get at office only.

If you are expecting refund of security, I doubt you will get any refund, given the present scenario...... Otherwise you can simply stop paying monthly bill and it is disconnected.

Are you sure that if I stop paying bills, it will get disconnected? They won't keep on charging me like late payment and all? Because not paying is the easiest option.

Do not stop paying bills before disconnection. You will not get back deposit. Plus you will have to pay late payment and excess bills which were sent because you have not officially disconnected the line.

All right. So my uncle will have to visit the MTNL office. Cannot avoid that. Thank you for the information.

I just downloaded a form from the MTNL website for surrendering the connection. What else will my uncle need to take with him to the MTNL office? Can someone here who has recently disconnected their MTNL connection tell the procedure? So that my uncle won't have to visit the office multiple times.

Why dont you first call 1500? And ask them what they will need.

Also ask them if you can surrender on phone call itself instead of needing to visit MTNL office

I cannot connect to anybody on 1500. That is what the problem is. Otherwise my complaint would have been resolved long time back and there wouldn't have been any question of surrendering the connection. They just start their IVRS maze on 1500 and when I press the option for connecting to the customer care agent, it says 'As per government mandates we don't have any agents currently' and something similar. Very poor service this is. Not even "You are in queue....you will be connected shortly". Nothing. Directly "No customer care agents".

There is no easy way, if you want to surrender/ disconnect and want your security back. And there will be multiple be visits....
You can check out my experience, in some thread.... I did it in 2016/ 17....

And regarding not paying the bill and not getting security back.... Half of the MTNL subscribers I personally know are not paying because the MTNL landline is not working for many months....

You dont really need any form. Here in Mumbai we make an application on plain paper addressed to the Tel exchange (In Triplicate if you have any MTNL equipment to return. Instrument, modem, LAN cables, splitter). Go to the exchange in different areas the counter is called different names. Submit your application there (one copy will be retained by them). Then you will be asked to goto the store to return the equipment (one copy for them). Here ensure that you get the third copy (your copy) stamped by stores enumerating what has been returned. Come back to the counter & show them your copy & get this stamped by them (if they have not done it already). Ask them what your deposit amt is & how long it will take to get it back. I surrendered my tel line last yr (I had to return only a rotary instrument (you should have seen their expression of those people. I heard there's a big premium still for those gadgets), I had always used my own modem & router. Bye bye to a relationship of may decades old.😢🤣🤣. I doubt if I will get my deposit I have almost kissed it goodbye, a bonus if I get it back.

Those rotary instruments... Ahh, made me nostalgic. 😪
I remember running to the exchange to get a copy of yellow pages every year. Though I never used it, it was fun to carry that dumbbell weighted book . Reminds me of Chaman Zinga incident from Hera Pheri😂
Those were the days man...
