I am from a village. We used to have BSNL broadband in our house 3 years ago. I moved out and the broadband connection is surrendered.

Now in 2020 when I ask BSNL they are saying there is no "line" available near my house and they can't issue me a broadband connection.

What is this "line" and why is it not there now when I used to have a broadband connection from BSNL at the same house 3 years ago?

What can I do to get a broadband connection or what needs to happen?

In a particular area BSNL have a capacity of providing x number of broadband connections. Over the period of time due to environmental factors some capacity is lost. Most likely now all available capacity is used up and hence no line available.

End-to-End connectivity broadband/fiber is very difficult to be provided in the villages even though we are in 2020 .
BSNL always says this and provides connection to the ones they know . They are not upto straight business in some areas
I have been in this situation before . I would say stop trying for BSNL and go for a different ISP

It is better you go for a wireless option in a village
If Jio gives you a good speed . I suggest you go with Jio Link
It is installed on top of you house and unlike normal Jio ...it is a bit better than mobile connections
You should also check with Airtel also if they have connections in your area
Where is your village ? I may google you some providers

Thank you but I am pretty sure BSNL is the only ISP in my village.

Jio Link: Looks like it is not available anymore? Any channel to get it?

If you have a neighbor with BSNL maybe you can share with them, split the cost?

bribe the BSNL guys.
i am sure you will get a line.
if bsnl is the only option ask them if 10-15k would be ok.
if they are asking 50k to 1lakh
use 4g. or 3g.

there are unlimited plans in 4g and 3g.
hotspot or dongle also is not a bad idea as entire home would become wifi

Jio Link - You should call your nearest Reliance Digital or authorised Jio centre . They may provide you with a unit . My friend from remote area got it 3 weeks ago . I am not sure if they provide it pan india

10-15K is still a big amount for a Broadband ADSL connection

It is not because he is living in village and connectivity is difficult there. I am living in Noida and one of the best sectors of it. Yet BSNL doesn't have any active lines left for past 8 years now. We got airtel and the max speed they can give is 2mbps.
bro Noida Is an IT city , i have worked there ,
i know BSNL might not be there but there are 1000's of offices , so i bet for even 1000 MBPS connection 😛

OK I finally got a BSNL Broadband connection. For some reason they got worried that I am applying for a connection online because "it will go as far as Pune". I got an SMS to call someone and after a month I got the connection. Although my plan is 12GB CUL (10 Mbps) the speed I get is around 3 Mbps.
