Frequent Disconnections on BSNL FTTH

I recently installed a new Bsnl Ftth connection at my home (preferably for gaming) as I don't have any other option to go for. DL and UL speed are very good all the time even more than the speed limit of the plans, like I have 50 Mbps plan and always get 65-70 Mbps DL and UL on speedtest.net.
But the connection has some serious issues, I can't play games on it like FIFA 20, PUBGM, F1 2020 and many other.

First of all in PUBGM, I can't even start the game, its always stuck on checking connection and then says servers don't respond.

Coming to FIFA 20, I can start the game but get frequent disconnections in the middle of the game. I asked game technicians for help, they told me to ask my ISP to open certain ports they are providing me. Can I do that? Will Bsnl open ports for me ??(This is on top of my priority list)
And on other games I encounter high ping issues.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I think BSNL uses public IPs mostly, you can forward the ports on your router. Can you tell the ONT/Router you have?

BSNL doesn't block ports, the problem is new ONT firmware, the only solution is to put ONT in bridgemode and use router or sometimes UPnP.

Post tracerts and vmPing for 5 min durations to those game servers

i would suggest going with @Realme suggestion and get another router and put your ONU in bridge mode.

That said, Syrotech does have a port forwarding screen. You need to login to your router > Security > Firewall > Custom and add a rule there.

With a seperate router with UPnP support, games can request router to open ports without you having to do it yourself and UI of the routers will be much better.

@Realme
The ports the asked to open through my ISP.

TCP: 3569,8080,9946,9988,10000-20000,42124 UDP: 3659,9000-9999

My UOTrace, VMping and tracerts results to the game server respectively.

I uploaded my speedtest results too in case you want to check my internet strength.

Is this the port forwarding screen you talking about.

@outofcontext77 strange🤔 it seems you are behind a double NAT by seeing the second hop on your trace route. It's a private ip range 10.x.x.x series ip.
At most in all regions they provide a public ip only.can you able to share your ip which is shown in your ont WAN information by hiding the last two octet

10.xx series wow, it's a private ip range, not usual on BSNL. btw BSNL has some ongoing Dehradun-Delhi link work going on.

That NAT panel settings don't work anymore after ONT firmware(Post BOTNET attack), don't waste your time on it.

When I asked you to vmPing over 5 minutes, I wanted to know packet drop rate.If I suppose packets don't drop a lot(no more than 2 packets out of 10)
then you are probably plagued by useless ONT NAt settings and lastly which can't be helped US server pings.

GoldenRule: Things on internet start breaking to the point of no return at altar of 200ms latency.
^Can't help you with that, also game designer aim for <80ms or <100(in absolute worst scenario) for local server, you can probaly go shore to shore in US withing 75ms)

@Realme I can go into my game and have only this much pingfifa20.webp
But the problem lies when I get disconnected in the middle of a game. And it keeps repeating

Also I posted Vmping results done for 5 minutes.

Yes this only @outofcontext77 . The thing is you are getting the public ip but the gateway is only using private ip. So there is no issues on the NAT or Port forwarding.

For your issue i think if you open up your Ports you will get direct connectivity and get better ping response with your gaming partners but not sure that it will improve your ping response with the server.

Just give it a try by adding all of these ports here manually.as mostly people said that UPnP is not working on this specific model we can't relay on that and there is no other go rather than adding all of the port manually. 😉Hope you know how add these ports and all if not ping me.

yeah sure @outofcontext77 .so that you have to first assign a static ip to your game console(xbox / playstation).
You need to login to your router > Network > LAN > Edit Reserved ip and add a rule there.
nat1.webp

Enter your game console mac address there and reserve a ip for that.example: 192.168.1.200. you can see my config here.
nat2.webp

Then add up your individual ports. In your router > Application > Advance NAT and add a rule there.if it is a individual port like
TCP: 3569,8080,9946,9988 made a entry that starting port, ending port and sport as same and use appropriate protocol needed as tcp/udp.
see this example.
