Hi

Jio set top box was kept dormant so far after initial testing. I started using it continuously for about a week and here is the list of problems I've encountered:

1. The box reboots frequently with any apparent reason in the midst of a running program. I am forced to start from home all over again.
2. Frequent stops in videos with no problem with the wifi singnal (tested with other devices)
3. Not able to uninstall unwanted apps - they just reappear.
4. Resolution gets reduced of its own
5. Certain News apps just don't work.

Could someone please tell me if it's all peculiar to me?

Thanks

S.K

#3 is a feature and not a bug according to Jio, since mota bhai must have signed deals with those app makers to make their apps permanently uninstallable.

#1 indicates a real problem with your device. Have you tried a complete reset yet?

Sorry to hear about your problems. Some users have reported problems with Jio box and had got the box replaced. U may want to consider this option.
Can you elaborate more on point 4? On which video, movie does resolution gets blurred? What resolution is set and what do you get?
Usually in most apps, resolution is set to 'Auto', - which means, resolution is set based on internet speed. So if your internet speed fluctuates,
resolution will come down too....

My shit tier android box also had issues with reboots. I thought it was overheating, even attached a heatsink and fan to the chip, still kept rebooting while playing videos on a CRT lol. You should get it replaced.

I am not able to speak to any Jio customer service folks. Please tell me how to contact them. They have only fixed menu options. And only a bot chats.

Finally got to speak to a human being. I'm told that replacing a defective set top box may entail some charges, which the "Engineer" would inform me before replacing.
Have anyone any experience in Set top box replacement, please?

S.K

I know someone who got it done a few months back, and nothing was charged back then AFAIK.

I would believe the set top box would have a warranty of atleast 1 year. So if u have been a subscriber for less than 1 year, they will replace it for free.
Even otherwise, I would think they would only charge a small, nominal amount for replacing the defective box.
Please do let us know once you replace it....

@Yeskay
The Reboot problem in your router is due to the insufficient RAM to the Apps you are using
This happens when you load high end apps on a low end machine
Second...when you run Graphic intensive apps like Games and Graphic apps
I think in your case ....when you are running a low end machine . The issue is , it already has bloatware preinstalled by Jio company
On top of that if we install our required apps ....it becomes a mess
This may be a Hardware problem too....but 9 out of 10 times its a RAM problem
