What is a good ping I should expect on a Fiber optic network??
As on Jio Fiber everyone is seeing a ping of 4-10 ms

BSNL Bharat Fiber is giving me ping of 60ms to my nearest Ookla speedtest server
Pinging to the BSNL gateway of my local Location is giving me about 30ms on a LAN cable

Speeds are as expected but the latency is too high
I consider this very high or bad pings ..

Can someone share their views on this ?

Bsnl is facing routing issues these days that's why u are getting high latency.by the way 30 ms to local gateway is highly unlikely. There maybe some problem with your connection. Is ur ont working correctly..

If you are referring to the Local gateway in the sense 192.168.1.1 , the pings are less than 1.5 ms . I am referring to ISP node i am connected to

Then there gateway is overloaded maybe due to some local congestion or other issues .pings to local gateway should be under 12 to 15ms..

If I ask the BSNL guys in my city about ping , server , anything related to back end , they are very much clueless about it . I dont know how to deal with them . Is there any support for Technical questions like in Head office ??

First lodge a complaint in selfcare portal then after 1 day u should tweet ur complaint to bsnl stating ur complaint and phone number on Twitter. Still no resolution then u can lodge a complaint with the pgportal . That's the last resort I can think of although there are options like going to exchange and brief them about it.most of the complaints are resolved within the Twitter tweet. That's from my experience with bsnl.

On a fiber connection the ping to isp gateway should be less than 2-3 ms.
On BSNL it might be as high as 10-15 ms but it should not be higher than that.

I am sure this will address my problem . Thanks
