haha. it's likely that they have upgraded the network in your area to support 100mbps? because they have 40mbps plans in areas where their network is not capable of delivering faster than 40mbps?

Right, its been a mixed case for me. I was on an 8 mbps plan paying 799, that I was convinced to get a VDSL router upgrade for 500 bucks and that with VDSL I will get 16 mbps effective immediate and "shortly" I will get 40 mbps. More than a year passed with no change and I was so irritated that I was on the verge of disconnection. Hathway came in with 100 mbps for 799 and I was all but going to chuck Airtel out. Decided to retain for the landline and that I could switch to 499 plan with 100 gb for 8 mbps as Airtel has been more stable than anyone else and I can see for few days and then decide. Has been the backup connection and some family members are connected to that always.

Recently noticed that speed of all plans for me are now showing as 24 mbps including my current 499 one.

Its been more than 4 years since that promise of 40 mbps of "shortly" getting it.

Yea, I'm from Bangalore using VDSL and I do noticed change in speed this week. But however airtel app doesn't show any changes in plan.

@arjunarora4212 My downstream line rate is pretty good around 103k+ so I'm getting 90-92mbps now.

But I'm eagerly waiting for fiber to experience 200mbps. As I heard they already laid cable but not sure when they start setting it up.

For me I'm happy though. I'm using airtel since from 1 and half year started at 40mbps.
Before I was on BSNL for 3+yrs with 8mbps down and 512kbps upload along with 10-20 times internet disconnections/reconnect per day as added bonus by BSNL and poor support. After using airtel it just blown out my mind knowing home broadband can be so smooth.

I hate local cable operator/ACT/Jio because of CG-NAT as I use homelab and does port forward for some stuff.

I have not even been able to get the 40 mbps on VDSL - So, I am not going to trust Airtel, unless literally they show me a neighbour having it. I see from their website plans start at 799 - I already have Hathway which is going ok, so Airtel is my backup for now.

If you are asking how come Airtel Fiber is not there in my street - Not sure.

Not sure. Maybe its just not available in all places or it is. Who knows. Maybe because of corona situation they are not able to promote much as of now.
