How can we find out the resolution of the video being played in the prime video app. The earlier version used to to display "HD or UHD" on pressing OK button but the updated app does not show it.
Also how can we play 5.1 audio using an external receiver? I tried setting the Audio of the stb to spdif and connected the digital optical output but still getting stereo sound only

I do not use 5.1, so cannot answer the second part of your question.
As for the first part, on the prime video app the resolution is shown in bottom left part of the screen. Picture is attached. I have a 4k tv and with correct settings on the tv, it shows ultra hd in the app. Hope this helps....
If it is a 1080p hd movie, it will appear as 1080p HD on the screen... On the Jio Prime Video app, there is some glitch. The resolution appears in some movies and shows only. I dont know why. On the Amazon 4k firestick it appears for all movies consistently.
We can rule out if it is a jio problem, if you can share me any particular movie for which you want to check resolution. I can play the same video on my jio box and let you know if it displays the resolution on my tv.

This is the previous version of the Prime app. I also used to get that in some of the movies e. g. Gulabo Sitabo, Shikara etc... But since the app update this thing has disappeared... Xray and Audio/subtitles options now appear in the left corner of the screen..
The resolution does not appear no matter what you play...

Thank you. I have the same version. And I can see what resolution the video is playing in the bottom left part of the screen.
Apparently, something is not right with your box then, Try restarting it and see if it helps...

The pic which you had posted had the interface of the previous version of the app. When I had that, I could also view the resolution quality. But after the update (though I did not get any notification for it), the interface has changed a bit with regards to "X-ray" and "Audio/subtitles" option and the "HD /UHD" does not appear now.

@rahul_15 is absolutely right. The Prime Video app was updated a few days back as I had mentioned here, and the UI from @icecool20's screenshot is definitely the old one. I'll check the version number of the app at my end and also whether it displays the resolution or not and post here.

This is the new interface... Please verify with your app once. Also can you see the resolution in your app along with the changed interface? IMG_20200629_174445__01.webp

Played the same movie Gulabo and can see the resolution displayed. Pic attached
I guess what i dont understand is - when both of our software version is the same, how can the interface be different?
