ISP
Airtel Xstream Fiber
JioFiber
Excitel
I have an Excitel Ethernet connection. I am fed up of waiting for Fiber.
I'm looking for a Fiber alternative preferably a Postpaid one which would be stable and reliable. It should have good routing and low latency to international servers for gaming.
This is going to be my primary connection and my usage is 700 GB per month.JioFiber is my back up connection.
I have read on the forum that Excitel Fiber has some issues with latency and packet loss which is not ideal for gaming.
I have finalised Airtel Xstream Fiber but the plan I'm interested in expensive and I can get 2 Excitel Fiber connections at that price. Is Xstream Fiber better than Excitel Fiber and worth paying that much more?
Are there any other better alternatives or should I wait for Excitel Fiber?
Almost all ISPs are available except few like BSNL.

Bump.

Whats ur budget? Speed you want?
Mtnl fiber is also available in dwarka.
Their 1111plan looks awesome on paper.
No one can beat Airtel xstream reliability.

1300 pm. Atleast 200 Mbps.
Never heard of MTNL Fiber from anyone. Won't be reliable.
Airtel 200 Mbps plan would cost me around 1600 with top up.

According to my experience from the fiber,[Location : Bangalore]
I stayed for a period of 2 months at my brother`s place

He owns these three below mentioned fiber connections .
1. Excitel Fiber
2. JioFiber
3. Airtel FTTH(Xstream Fiber)

I would say in any ISP business , the fibre plays a significant part in the Network(Internet performance), but other than this there are other factors like these
  1. Customer support - A good reliable customer support is required when you are running a ISP business (both technical and billing )
  2. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  3. Network Backend Infrastructure - This includes the Servers , Routing switches , Plan architecture for specific city , Redundancy , Cable Shielding
  4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Fiber contention ratio(A important one) - What it exactly means ?? - It means when you terminate a connection to the user`s area(example area A), the ISP has to maintain a certain ratio of splitted connections like 1:50 or 1:32 depending on the user requirement and the terminating End capacity
User should ask the contention or split ratio to the technical guy when u r enquiring about an ISP. Not many reveal this as its high like 1:70 or 1:100 in big cities
ftth_overview.webp

If you observe the image , all the action from point 5 happens in between ODF & ODN which is known to split connections as users start to increase in a specific area
Good ISPs(american) keep the backend(ODF to the Access and further) of the service strong by running multiple threads of Fiber for speed and reliability and lower pings.

Now coming to the three ISP`s

Excitel Fibre is not very good with their customer care and I can say they suck in that , being in Bangalore they also dont maintain a healthy contention ratio ( I would say avoid excitel) if u need reliability

Airtel Xstream Fibre is quite good with their service overall considering the above points . Pings range from 20-30 . Night times you get good pings . Customer service is also good and they respond to the queries . Just one downtime of 1 hour experienced in 2 months

Jio Fibre is not worthy of its price considering the installation cost itself is 2500 . Pings were not great when i visisted (60ms), but now its improved to around 15ms ( to the speedtest server) . Now coming to Customer service , they are not good , high waiting times are seen .

As of speed , 3 also offered near to the mentioned speeds
with Jiofiber coming close to 98.2 mbps out of 100 and Airtel coming close to 142 for 150 mbps
Excitel was bad when i tested

@MadAxe I would say remove all the existing connections and go with a Airtel Xstream Fibre with unlimited FUP
I gave my insight on all of this as Bangalore is different from your place

Mtnl initially use to lay its own fiber(underground), it did in many societies of dwarka. Later lack of funds brought it to Bsnl franchise model.
So check if its Mtnl own fiber. You can do so by visiting sanchaar hat.

Airtel was offering 6months free unlimited addon benefit for new customers. Better ask local sales guy.
Later you can ask to continue it as retention benefit threatening disconnection though it is becoming hard to gulp out retention benefit from Airtel after Jio plans got out. Plus this lockdown shown the real face of Airtel customer support cost cutting. It is not the same as before though still best among the worst.

Excitel Ethernet is fine for me, no issues except few down times but they are not upgrading to Fiber even after a year.

That offer is not available now.
Do you have experience with Airtel Fiber. I have a few doubts. Can you clear them?

Bumping this thread as it is more relevant now as FTTH penetration of Jio and Airtel has increased.
