Hi friends, hope you are doing well during these difficult times.

I have a Huawei HG8145V5 router that was installed with my Airtel XStream Broadband connection in the Kerala circle.
I raised an issue with Airtel saying that I am getting 90 - 95 Mbps speed in my 200 Mbps speed plan.

Their technician visited my home and checked my PC and said that I don't have a Gigabit ethernet port! But I showed him the motherboard manual (I still keep those things 🙂) It was clearly written as Gigabit Ethernet. Also, my laptop also has a Gigabit ethernet port, but the link speed shows up as 100 Mbps. So I got suspicious and asked the tech to show me the proof for the Gigabit ethernet support in the above Router. He said that it is Gigabit ethernet and does not have to prove it to me. Later, he agreed to bring a new laptop and prove it to me!

My question is, does the Huawei HG8145V5 router have Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports?
This is not an urgent issue, but I am paying for 200 Mbps so I need this fixed, right?

Huawei website mentions that this device has four gigabit ports.

Solution
But it's happening with both your laptop and desktop?

The tech came and connected his laptop (ThinkPad) to the same cable that I am using and he is getting 1Gbps! Some issue with my laptop GBE adapter ... not sure
Ensure that the gigabit port is enabled with the proper settings, otherwise you won't be able to make use of the actual speeds.

You need to check if your adapter in laptop is enabled to auto negotiate with the link or it is explicitly set to 100mbps speed. It should either be auto or Full Duplex 1000 Mbps.
Apart from this setting. there is only a cable quality / or the switch router port that could be faulty.
In rare case the Lan adapter driver so ensure you have latest updated drivers.

Did you try to create separate Access Points for 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz? That resolved my issue, I'm also on 200 Mbps plan but used to get only 60-70 Mbps, the reason was both the above mentioned bands were having same AP name and some reason all the devices were latched on the 2.4 ghz band only. Ultimately if you need to get 200 Mbps speed you should be connected to the 5 ghz band.
