Why do some people in this forum seem to prefer BSNL FTTH over JioFiber? Jiofiber may soon be available in my area and BSNL FTTH is the one I'm currently using. The issue with BSNL is that they have low FUP limits.750 GB gets used up within 20-22 days even when used moderately and I'm forced to pay upto 300-400 extra for a measly 50GB.
I primarily use Netflix , Youtube and Plex.
The streaming speed on BSNL is quite smooth in all these sites. However the FUP limits are quite an issue. Would it be okay to move to Jiofiber for higher speeds and data limits? Does Jio work smoothly with Plex? Do they throttle speeds to international servers? NB: I don't care about upload speeds.

Bharat Fibre has a pan India presence and is quite affordable for the average user.
For higher usage, you can go for Airtel Fiber if available in your area. Jio should be the last resort.

I'd like to add something to kick's post above and wrt Why you bought BSNL FTTH when u have better plan in act, hathway and other network? | BSNL FTTH Bharat Fiber Broadband and @aatuif

DPI is a concern. These may seem minor to some. But for some others, its like ISP's data voyeurism 😅🙏. Monetary value of data of an approx few hundred million?? Indians are huge. Will Jio use it to datamine and sell it? Whom will they sell it to? Or will they social profile? Reroute / rerank searches? Censor content or create some walled garden setup with 'Jio ranked' sites?

Think, they are usually done on this scale by communist and dictator states like china and Saudi.

Also i think jio fiber implements CG-NAT whereas Bsnl provides dynamic ips, So plex and similar apps will not work. And this is one of the major reason (atleast for me) not to shift from bsnl to jio ftth

Didn't know this. Thank You.

I would also like to add a point . The recent deal of facebook buying stakes in jio is concerning if we look it from a data privacy perspective.Since facebook now owns most of the social networking sites used by millions .With jio doing dpi it becomes more favourable to mine data from the social networking sites which can be put it into use in various ways ,since reliance has a very considerable business in almost all the retail sectors.

Does CG-NAT prevent us from setting up a Plex server in our home only or it altogether blocks Plex from accessing content hosted in servers in Europe?

Why? Would you care to explain, please?
Jio Fiber experience is varied across India just like any other ISP. BSNL is amazing in some states/cities but not so in others. Right now Jio's commercial plans aren't good as they provide low FUP for the price (ignore the extra data provided now as they are temporary). If your are a data monger then "199 plan" is the only good deal as it provides high FUP of 1000 GB @100Mbps for 7 days. (they say it's introductory so no clue about that).
If you think BSNL is doing a fine enough job I say stick with it else your always encouraged to explore. Used to be a BSNL user for many years but switched to Jio a while back and it has been good with some caveat. If your a PC/console online gamer there have been issues with match joining/unstable pings. International routing has improved but there's always room for improvement. There are also more OTT platforms and cloud gaming services coming in the near future. If you find this bundled "Jio Fiber package" promising, go for it.

@igloo Actually, I would've paid for a higher plan if one truly existed. Currently, BSNL offers a plan.with only 33GB/day. We can't even download a full game with that kind of data. Their plans are truly pathetic. Having two connections seems like a hassle.
