an uncle has to downgrade his plan. airtel thanks app did not offer downgrading in the past. airtel customer care suggested to use the app to apply for plan change. i am already on the lowest plan so i cannot check at my end. can folks on higher end plans check if they can downgrade to 799+299 combo from the app itself?

Solution
Yes, you can downgrade to any of standard plans. only thing is special plans if any ,are not available to choose in app. by special plans i mean retention plans or such. and if any discounts given before to your account will be withdrawn once you change plan if i am not wrong.

Yeah, just click on the plan and you will get option for 6/12 months
It will then ask you to pay the current outstanding + 6 months advance rental of choosen plan

Also please note, if you are downgrading, any unused data will be forfeited.

You can't directly downgrade to a lower tier plan on long term/advance rental plans
You will have to first convert to a monthly plan then again opt in for a lower tier plan.
Doing so will convert the money remaining(total minus pro rate usage) as negative bill/advance payment with which you can pay for the lower tier plan

Do you mean downgrading from annual to monthly? Because I think someone I know was able to switch from one monthly plan to another via the app.

I am on a 799 plan with 299 unlimited addon. If I upgrade to 999 plan along with the addon today, what will have happen to my remaining data considering my month end is still a week away.

Will I lose all the remaining data from 799 plan today, and will eat into 999 data for a week before the bill gets generated? That sounds a loss to me since the 999 data period will be 1 months + 1 week rather than 1 month.

Anybody familiar with how the upgrade process works?
