Now I'm really sketchy about the Netlink HG323RGW ONU cause with it's LAN Port specifying that one port is capable of 10/100/1000mbps and the other one is 10/100(auto-negotiable).

So yeah, basically I'm using that dumb ONU in bridge mode ( followed from @pothi thread) and connected it to TP-Link Archer AC1200. Now I'm wondering cause I'm being forced to 10mbps when i connect it directly to my PC and the second port ends up with 100mbps.

Now i'm confused with these, @varkey any idea about this?

Note - I used a Cat5e cable to link up my ONT and TP-Link device whereas from TP-Link to PC, I used AmazonBasics one, which too supports 1gig transfer and did the checks with ports, rest of them or gigabit ports where I'm confused only with the Netlink one.

PS - I changed my plan from 1277 to this and I'm using Static IP too and that wasn't disturbed when I switched over from selfcare

and another cute note, I got around ~175mbps DL/UL via Netlink's 2.4g while testing with my phone

Sorry @dhogaivannan, I am a bit confused. Is the TP-Link device a C6, could you please specify the exact model?

When you say you are forced to 10 Mbps, is that the max you are getting on a speed test or the link speed of the ethernet device?

So the Netlink device's gigabit port is connected to the WAN port of the TP-link device which is then configured for PPPoE auth. And all tests were done while you have your PC connected to the TP-Link device? Although you did try to switch the port the TP-Link is connected to on the ONT side?

@varkey The link has been attached here, I meant this one.

Okay so 10Mbps in the sense, I meant the link speed of the ethernet device connected with my PC directly and not with TP-Link modem to PC and this was mostly the case when it was connected with Port 1 of Netlink modem. (Port 1 -> PC)

I'm confused which port of Netlink supports GE output here, right now it's on port 2 of my netlink to the gigaport of TP-link. So, now you want me to try switching up ports from Port 2 -> Port 1 of Netlink to TP-Link?

And yes to that PPPoE Auth, that's how it is for now. Auth is done in the TP-Link one.

If the link speed shows 10 mbps, it mostly points to an issue with the cable or maybe the port itself.
Try a different cable.

Yes, try the other port. Also what speeds do you get when you do a speedtest?

@varkey I see, I'm in a position where it's hard to replace the cable from Netlink -> TP-Link. But yeah, so how do you post videos videos here? Cause I found something interestingly weird here.

test (I've uploaded the files innit)

So, yeah let me know once you've seen this, i think it might be modem's fault here..

Speedtest results here - Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test

The cable running from TP-Link to Netlink has all 6-8 lights blinking so i really can't come to a conclusion where that wire's faulty

I'm unsure if we can test a port with a cable tester like that. 🤔

So port 1 is the one negotiating a link of max 10 Mbps? And port 2 negotiates 100 Mbps? I gather that the speed test is from when you have connected the cable to port 2 of ONT to TP-Link?

Also, just to rule out the cable (it is unlikely), would it be possible to temporarily bring a laptop to the ONT and connect a different cable to each port of the ONT and check the link speed it negotiates. If you still see that port 1 is negotiated at 10 Mbps, it would appear like a damaged port on the ONT.

Yep, @varkey, the test results are from port 2 of ONT.

The problem is, port 1 works only if i unplug/plug it again and it randomly works and even if it did, it negotiates to 10mbps. The problem is, i don't have any lap in hand to check that port. I guess I'll call the local LCO to bring their own and replace the modem if it's faulty 🙁.

Okay so according to the manual given by these manufactorers, do you've any idea which port supports GE and which doesn't?

I see. Then it most likely points to a bad port, hardware fault of the ONT. Asking for replacement is the best course.

To be honest, not sure. The manual doesn't really say that. 😅

Port 2 is GE and other is FE. Confirmed with VSOL and Netlink support.

@varkey guess what? Resetting Netlink router solved the issue, now it's running good in bridge mode and yeah as @WieldyBinkie said, the second port supports GE and the other one is on FE.

and yeah btw, how much -dBm are you getting in Rx power of the fiber? It may sound weird but yeah, when I had around ~-14dBm, my ping to AWS and CSGO servers used to be good and now around ~-20, it looks worse. Could it be any factor for the random spike/loss while interacting with the servers?

Im having a similar issue, I have 150mbps plan with ACT in Kilpauk - Chennai. But in my pc it shows 100mbps in status.

My router/modem is archer c5 AC1200(wan & lan 1gbps according to net) -> cat6e lan (150meters) -> 1gbs network card (Realtek RTL8111C).

On 5ghz on mobile i get 150 mbps download and upload.

I'm suspecting the lan cable is bad or the network card is broken (bought from Ritchie street). I will try plugging cat5e 5 meters directly into modem soon.

Also what is the best cat of lan cable for 25 meters?

Solved. The 150 meters lan cable was either bad or too long to support 100mpbs+. I connected cat5e 2meters to router and i get 150mbps+ speed.
