Hi all,

Is jio fibre worthy for the given money..?
The base plan or starting plan starts from 699(including gst its825) where we get 200+50 gb, where 100gb extra is for lockdown period and 50gb is for 6months for new customers. After lockdown period ends that 100gb and after 6 months that 50gb will be removed. So its only 100gb for 825rs.Is Bsnl ftth is good compared to jio..?

@Tekky If you can afford it, go ahead.

@Tekky It doesn’t. C7 has a 2x2 radio if I’m not wrong.

Best case you’ll get speed in the ~500 Mbps range over 5Ghz. Only if you’re standing right next to the router. Across a single wall it might fall under 100-200 Mbps. Across 2 walls probably 30-100 Mbps tops.

what is found is overall routers with 2000rs + only have gigabit port.
what I do not understand is, if routers like C60 or A5, if they do not have gigabit port then how they can come under dual band?
if you LAN is not supported more than 100 Mbps then how you suppose to get wifi speed over 100 Mbps on 5GHz band.

Because the WAN port is gigabit and the rest of the LAN ports are 100 Mbps ports.

I read TP-Link specifications before I bought A6, and find that time that WLAN is also 100mbps, so if you are not getting more than 100mbos on WLAN then how you can get 1gbps on WAN?
Looks like company is making fool

Do the speeds drop even if we use a good quality router? Which router did you use? How much are the drops in speed?
I was using Jio ONT device. I have recently installed a TP-Link Deco Mesh router with two satellites. I must say, phenomenal improvement of coverage and 5GHz access throughout the house. Connected the Deco Mesh Router through a Cat6 cable to Jio ONT and turned off the Wifi of Jio ONT.

Mostly agree with all you stated, except for the above. Other than the main OTT apps (NetFlix still missing mind you), the rest of the selection in the Jio Store is limited and quite simply, pathetic. As for Live channels, "Literally all Live channels can be accessed" is quite an exaggeration when there are tons of channels (including very major ones) that seem to be missing compared to what any normal cable operator provides. Also, nothing is "free". Did you forget that the cost is very much factored into the internet plan charges? No company, especially a greedy one like Jio, is dumb enough to give OTT subs for free.

Agreed, Netflix is missing and not surprising because it costs a lot. Prime is free now. I am not advocating for Jio, but just comparing ISPs given the options we have. And I will still say, except for the Upload speed cap and a pathetic customer care, JioFiber is still a value for money. Airtel Xtreme gives Prime, Zee5 and content access but the device has to be purchased.

I recently downloaded Jionews in my ipad and could get premium access using Jio id. Surprised to see the range of magazines available with free access. Try that if you like reading magazines. I think any Jio connection, not necessarily Fiber will provide premium access. This feature is not well advertised.

Prime is 'free' for Gold plan and above only, and I bet Jio would never have even thought about it if they didn't see Airtel attracting users based on it.

I agree however that we're just trying to pick whichever ISP is the better of the bad lot at any given point of time, and all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that we hopefully get something at least of what we've paid for. We all know that there's no proper regulation (with teeth) in place to reign in MegaCorps run by crony capitalists, no proper redressal mechanism to force service providers to maintain proper service standards and provide timely response in case of issues (while customers of course are made to run from pillar to post), no data privacy laws to protect the consumer from rampant snooping and data reselling (which Jio BTW has taken to a whole new level in this country), no transparency at any level (governmental or private) regarding often random and indiscriminate censorship of pages/sites/protocols... I could go on and on.
