I havent bought any computer since 2009. So I am highly outdated.

I have been using my laptop since 2009 and it is showing signs of dying.

I already have a spare Monitor and Keyboard and a PS/2 mouse and external DVD drive.

I do not want hi-fi desktop. i3 or i7 is enough.

If I want to assemble a desktop myself, what do I need to buy?

CPU Box (which one? I have old iBall one, will it work?)
Motherboard (which one should I go for?)
Processor (which one should I go for?)
RAM (which brand? what specifications?)
Powersupply (which brand?)
Harddisk (is seagate good? what RPMs?)

Is that all? What would be cost of each?

I do not want that I purchase above and later find out that I missed a critical component!

I have never assembled a PC myself but I am willing to go for it.

Not opening another thread but can any one suggest good but cheap Wifi adapter which I can use with this?

I am not interested in high speeds. As of now 100mbps is also enough for me.

Distance of Wifi adapter (plugged to PC) and wifi router would be max 10 m and about 30 ft. (but there will be 2 walls in between)

Currently using laptop at the same place where my PC would be placed and wifi signal is good.

PCI one is costlier than my Wifi router itself!!! (Netgear router was 999Rs)

My router does not support AC or 5G band. So i don think there is any point in buying!

Just an update.. I bought this from local market
Amazon.in: Buy Tenda U3 Mini Wireless N Adapter (Black) Online at Low Prices in India | Tenda Reviews & Ratings

Local market it was 700Rs. On Amazon its 600Rs. (I didnt know)

It catches 1 bar signal. Router is about 7-9m away straight line with 2 walls in between.

Works out of box in Linux.

Update: also see 2nd post after this post

Also update about this... I postponed buying new PC as of now. And got laptop repaired and serviced instead. (cost 2200Rs with a CPU fan change)

Works out of box in Linux.

On further testing, it opens one page at a time. Try opening 2-3 pages in parallel and it becomes stand still. Upload / download hardly moved.

This is due to two walls in between.

I connected USB extension cable to laptop and put other end in direct sight to WiFi router. (i.e. without walls in between but distance still remained about 7-9 meter)

Pages started opening normally. Download speed improved afterwards upto 7-8 mbps but upload speeds were still slow (100-200 kbps)
And it was still 1 bar. On my laptops inbuilt Wifi - download speeds go to 10mbps and upload goes upto 1mbps. (maximum my ISP provides)

Overall you need to be close to router for this USB dongle to work to your expectations.

I selected a cabinet which says 160mm cpu cooler height. And cooler I have choosen is 159mm.
I am not sure if this cabinet figure includes the mobo or not.

Case clearance / CPU clearance is from top of the CPU to the case. This is the maximum cooler height that will fit.

I think you should be fine
