ISP
BSNL
Airtel Fiber
I've BSNL FTTH 100 Mbps plan, looking for a ONT so that I can return the one given by the BSNL.

My current Device: Huawei HG850a

Looking for a ONT which I can bridge to my router running OpenWRT, so I don't need any fancy stuffs. A gigabit port and a reliable brand is enough for me.

Please provide the links to buy, affiliate links are welcome.

I do not have a very good experience regarding the BSNL FTTH at my location Shimoga, Karnataka ...It may work fine for you in Guwahati. the connection drops sometimes at my location. Other than a few hours of downtime , its working fine
Regarding the clarity , it i better than a traditional DSL line but not better than VOLTE calling on our smartphones

From my own experience , BSNL is a ISP which you cannot compare with the private players like Jio and Airtel (I would not mention ACT service) who are very good with their service. BSNL is on the verge of getting closed and the least they are doing is keeping the service running. We cannot complain about service as they are definitely value for money (affordable plans)

Regarding a Telephone , i would suggest you go with a cordless Telephone which helps you in mobility while answering calls
Panasonic Tg-3411SX is the model which is quite value for money
Panasonic Tg-3611SX has a Loudspeaker which the 3411 model doesn't have;
Motorola also can be considered
Buy according to your needs .
Note :- The cordless doesnt work when you have a power cut and you will need power backup to support it.

@shashankb Doesnt a cordless telephone operating on 2.4GHz cause interference to the wifi operating in the same band?

Not much really .I mean there are signals which clash with each other but it would not be very much significant amount. As a user myself (having a 2.4Ghz Wifi) I am not facing any disturbances in voice quality due to the interference of the Wifi spectrum. You can go ahead with it

  1. A better solution would be to use a 5Ghz band on Wifi devices if the router and devices support it
  2. For example you can switch over the main machines like Personal Phone and Laptop to avoid traffic in 2.4Ghz
  3. Also get LAN cable conn near to the Router(if possible) and keeping the telephone base away from Wifi point would do better

@PranjalT Were you able to get the ONT ?
I'm currently in Sivasagar, Assam and in need of ONT. The bsnl guy has given me a Syrotech router which gives speed of 20 mbps over wifi despite having a 100mbps connection. After argument he has agreed to refund the 3800 he took for installation but I have to find a new router. I was thinking of getting a basic ONT as a bridge and buying another router separately. The only problem that I am facing is I am not able to find a basic ONT modem. If you have any reliable links to online stores or nearby let me know.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, am using the same Syrotech 1110WDONT and am getting the usual speed of 50mbps. Have you checked the speed while connected to LAN? As of now, BSNL is giving Syrotech, Netlink, Digisol ONTs which are all same with different branding. However, there's an ONT from Tenda, I don't remember the exact model but you can try searching(I'll let you know if I get the model name). Or you can use an Archer C6 in bridge mode with your current ONT. Also, please show us the RX power you're getting.

I'm getting speeds of 100 mbps on lan, but I only use wifi. The router is giving sub par speeds despite a hefty price tag.
I need an ONU which I can use in bridge mode (a basic one). I can't find any on Amazon or flipkart. Do you know any retailers with offline stores who would be willing to ship.
I need to return this current router by the end of this month and thus this is kind of urgent or else I'll be stuck with this good for nothing chinese crap.

I'm getting signal strength of around -33 dBm when standing next to it.
