I've BSNL FTTH 100 Mbps plan, looking for a ONT so that I can return the one given by the BSNL.

My current Device: Huawei HG850a

Looking for a ONT which I can bridge to my router running OpenWRT, so I don't need any fancy stuffs. A gigabit port and a reliable brand is enough for me.

Please provide the links to buy, affiliate links are welcome.

Railwire is not available at my location. Infact none of the ISP is available except BSNL :-(

I called into that number. They're saying it'll be available by Friday. I don't know though ho much honest they are!!
Even my bulk orders are pending due to stock shortage.
So they are telling the truth.
SY-GOPON-1000R-ONU is available but this model doesn't support phone connection.

^ This is a good device, but do note that there are different variants of the same model. This particular linked one has only fast ethernet ports, not gigabit (Gigabit version is a bit more expensive) So when purchasing you'd need to confirm with the seller.

@varkey Hii , I need ur help in understanding this. I was using BSNL FTTH since early 2019 with EPON connection. Last Monday morning (while working )the connection went off showing LOS in the modem ( I was using Syrotech SY-GOPON-1000-WONU). I called up the LCO and he told me he was upgrading it to GPON from EPON and will take time. I agreed. I waited till next day, no change. I called him up again, he mentioned since it was upgraded to GPON my current modem wont support anymore and I should buy a new one from him. Since i am WFH and i was on quarantine i had no other option so i agreed upon getting a new one. I waited for one more day and there was no response from him, last day he responded telling me there is no stock available. Finally, since i had to join work ASAP i did an online research and ordered TP-Link archer GPON xr500v ac1200.
I told the LCO the same, but he was telling me TP-link might not work. Is this true?? I checked with tech support of tp-link and they said it would work fine. Will i be able to configure the tp-link modem myself???

@Matt008 It should work, most OLTs tend to make it compatible other brand devices. Depending on how the OLT is configured, you might need the operator to allow the new ONT to register with the OLT, they might be whitelisting based on the serial number of the device.

Anyway in your case the operator should do whatever is necessary for the new device to be activated.

Thanks for approving my membership into this forum. Hope to learn from the members here.

I have a BSNL FTTH 777 plan and I have the following questions
1. Even though its mentioned in this forum earlier, can I use any other ONT instead of the Alphion supplied by BSNL?
2. Has anybody tried to hack any other GPON ONT to make it compatible with OLT ?
3. There is a dual band router + ONT listed by Alphion, in their site. Does BSNL provide that?

thanks in advance
