I have airtel tower installed at my land. Airtel officially updated on the site that xstream fiber is launching soon in my city. Yesterday the tower maintenance guy who so calls himself am Engineer visited for regular check. I asked him if he has any idea when the fiber is coming in my area. He said airtel doesn't provide fiber in any area. If I need fiber I need to pay 50k if I need xstream fiber. I find it a bit weird. How come one person pay 50k for broadband connection. What do you think is he bluffing or is it really the case?

He is talking about leased line...😂
Actually,he knows nothing.
If FTTH is coming to area....when it comes, you will see dp boxes in the street.
Also, you will be informed for pre registration

I have registered on the website but it says " we will contact you as soon our services goes live"
If the box get installed at a distance of 500m from my house. Is it still possible to get a connection by paying for extra fiber. If yes will the extra fiber affect the ping or speed?

The extra fiber will not affect latency.
The effect is less than 1ms.
The fiber cable cost 6 rs per meter.
I got it myself as my LCO asked me to pay 4000 for small distance.
They will plan dp boxes as per pre registration.
Don't worry.You will get it.
1 km fibre cost 5000 rs for armoured overhead cable.
So, don't worry....if you get any issue when ftth is launched. We all are here to help.

@Kick933 Is black cable armoured?

for e.g. most of the people in nearby area got orange cable from a box, but lco has given me a direct black cable? (no box etc..he says it directly from his OLT and i'm probably single customer in this area)

@Realme sorry, but colour cannot tell you anything.
You may check your box where splitter is installed.

If it is an overhead cable of 100 meter,it is definitely armoured.
Try stretching it a bit.
I mean, unarmiured cables are not used until it is a building where no stress is expected.

Can you give me snap of your splitter box if it can be opened?
I will see if it has two pairs of fibre.

Normally,LCO use 2F fiber cable as they use another pair to run cable services.
If yes,and you paid for cable, you can get another connection without any more cable purchase from another OLT.

LCO? Does airtel provide also use LCO? I came to know here on this forum that airtel doesn't involve LCO.

No splitter/box outside, only splitter is installed inside my home to lower down the power artificially and the cable has no marking.

I did overpaid about 5000 INR, but LCO gave a good after-sale service.

See this, there is a white fiber and a blue fiber strand in my cable.i get my bsnl connection over blue strand and white strand is not being used.I bought it as it was cheaper than single strand cable.I can get another ftth connection from another isp when they arrive.
I want to see this if yiu have a openable splitter box.
