Well chennai routing is never good for me, mumbai routing is just +1 ms from what you are getting.

Dubai is 200+ ms , pings are quite for me for most of the server 200+ ms for AWS mumbai whereas for the mumbai server you listed is 41 ms for me.

Very haphazard routing 😞

Hi people,

I am not a gamer and hence I don't know the IPs etc.

Can someone share IPs of Valve servers in India and their locations (exact DCs). I may be able to do something about user experience.

@raunakam I initially contacted an exchange located in Calicut. Calicut exchange forwarded me to Alappuzha exchange(I'm living in Alappuzha) and they told me the issue is being resolved. Moments after their reply, I started getting good ping to Valve India servers. But still sometimes I'm getting the IP which starts with 117.X.X.X and I get 200+ms ping, But it doesn't happen frequently and goes away with a modem restart.

IP of Valve Servers inside/close to India are below.

155.133.232.98 : This server is located in Chennai
155.133.233.99 : This server is located in Mumbai
185.25.183.162 : This server is located in Dubai
103.28.54.16 : This server is located in Singapore

I don't know how to find exact location of IP addresses, But the IP locations above are accurate, Because I took it from Valve Match-Making Servers.

I don't know the exact ip addresses but I have heard that steam has two servers in India, one in chennai and other one in Mumbai.
Mumbai node is hosted at CtrlS datacenters and the Chennai node is hosted at Netmagic.

@5trange , the first ping is with the 117.205.x.x ip range. The second is with 59.95.x.x About 2 mins apart.

I would have liked to contact BSNL - be set to this IP range etc like in your case... But if it reverses again after a week? 😄

Try using Warp and test the Ping? I get decent latency with Warp + BOM

Ping result on Warp.

Code:
PING 155.133.233.99 (155.133.233.99): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 155.133.233.99: icmp_seq=0 ttl=56 time=21.407 ms
64 bytes from 155.133.233.99: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=22.840 ms
64 bytes from 155.133.233.99: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=21.713 ms
64 bytes from 155.133.233.99: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=22.927 ms
64 bytes from 155.133.233.99: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=20.486 ms

I am not a gamer anymore and hence I have this question -

Which are the most popular games right now.

Update: The issue is back, The 117.X.X.X IP range is back for me, and gives about 270ms latency to Valve servers. If I'm lucky, I get around 39ms to Valve servers with the same IP, But this happens very rarely, and only lasts for some hours. Restarting the modem a couple of time gives me the 59.X.X.X which gives me 19ms ping to Chennai.
