Why is Airtel providing different speeds in some cities?

In most of the cities Airtel has a starting Plan of 799 for 100mbps speed with a fup of 150gb. This goes upto 1gbps.

But in Dehradun the plans start from 599 for 16mbps speed with a fup of 100gb. There is no 1gbps plan there and max plan is 300mbps with no unlimited offer.
Is there any different kind of fiber there or something else?
 
Probably there is not much competition in Dehradun hence they are mainly providing older VDSL (v-fiber) and very few FTTH (Xstream) connections?
 
In Hyderabad all plans come with 3.3tb unlimited plans. So definitely localized plans.
 
Depends on the market and competition in the particular City.
Location of the city and also the backhaul capacity of airtel to that city is also a huge factor.
 
haha in delhi also they are providing vdsl.... and i think delhi has many subscribers to airtel.... then also they are not upgrading

i mean people in bhopal, indore, bihar has airtel fiber nowadays but people in delhi who has been airtel customers for 12-13 years don't have fiber now.

delhi has good competition and broadband takers.... still no fiber from airtel.
 
I think 40mbps 10mbps upload vdsl is sufficient for most until one buy 4k tv.
I would have never changed to excitel if 40mbps was offered. But 16mbps with 3mbps upload put a major lag on many stuff as 2hd stream with 2 whatsapp video calls concurrently is common in my household. It was big setback plus not being unlimited means making call every few months for addon data.

40Mbps is good if there is no work from home but with work from home and everyone at home. I am hardly getting any speed.

Everyone is watching video, netflix etc etc. getting my point?

Who needs airtel when you can get act fibernet which is much better than airtel xstream.
