from what I remember they have been saying that releasing it in open source is planned from the very beginning. Plus, unlike Aadhaar, this is a global thing which is being scrutinized by privacy organizations all over the world.

My society sent letter to whole society to install Aarogya Setu.

And also a form asking about details of all the members of house, their age, contact number and any existing illness.

It also asked to declare that we have installed Aarogya Setu and any COVID symptoms will be reported to society and municipality.

i am not sure why it's a big deal assuming the next update would bring the versioning at par.

The fact that Github can store unlimited versions means there was no reason to not release the older version. They are just being annoying. Of the so many bugs reported, none of them has gotten fixed.

And what's to stop the Govt from releasing say 1.30 on play store while keeping the Git repository stuck at 1.2? I mean they have released the source code. Nowhere they claimed that it would be of the actual live app on the store. They just released some code and their job is done. Nobody is checking the bug reports. There is no date on when the server code will be released.

Everything is a big deal unless full and proper code is released.

from what i have seen in the past, developers try to clean up code before they release anything in open source. things that you do not want to be scrutinized by public. like you may be using proprietary or open source in violation of the license and shit like that?

The only commits done to the public repository is changing readme files and few strings here and there. That's all.
