Hi guys,

Any of you are facing the issues of slow, intermittent connection dropping to content hosted in US.??
I am facing terrible issues since last evening

Thanks in advance

Give an example of content hosted in US. I will check it out if I am facing the same issue.

Ok for me. Atleast when I checked my speed seems better than usual. Checking from Mumbai

While Jio should provide symmetric speeds, the reality is most of the users do not have any tangible use of upload speeds.
You're joking, right?

Most users use iCloud, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Contacts not to mention the OSes themselves uploads diagnostics and telemetric data.

Many aunts, uncles and babus are using these basic cloud services. Are you really sure they do not have tangible use of upload bandwidth?

Don't forget VoIP, Video Calling, Streaming etc

Again most users don't use cloud storage especially for large files.

i conducted a poll here about plans opted by users in JioFiber, Rs. 199 plan which has 4000 Gb monthly data edged out Silver plan which had 400 Gb monthly data by just 2 votes. And even this result is skewed becasue this a forum of broadband enthusiasts.

So do you really think people are using that much bandwidth when it comes to upload speeds?

@Shubham Video Calling.

If three people are using Jio Fiber's 100 Mbps plan and try HD Video calling, it wouldn't be smooth with their 10 Mbps upload speeds.

If you monitor the traffic, you'd be surprised at how much data is uploaded. The simplest use case of upload bandwidth would be video calling, gaming, VoIP.

Also, Jio Fiber has issues: Source

Most people use shitty apps like Zoom, or Whatsapp for video calling which will work even at 128 kbps.

I think I didn't convey my point clearly. I never said upload speeds do not have any tangible use.

My point was most users (the general population) will never even realise the need of symmeteric upload speed.

You can conduct a poll in this forum itself about Jio's upload speed and if it hinders their real life usage or not.

Again, I repeat Jio should give symmeteric speeds. I have written emails to their customer care asking for it. I am not defending Jio just highlighting a real world scenario.

@Shubham I understand your point.

But you are underestimating the general Indian population. They simply do not know low upload bandwidth is the cause for their shitty video calling/VoIP experience. But they do know their video/VoIP experience is crap.

Even babus and uncles would prefer HD video/audio calling.

Think about it, how many people live inside a single Indian household on average?

Now, most Jio Fiber users are not tech-savvy, their demographics are for the simple plug and use type families.
So, most of these families are going to opt for 100 Mbps plans, agree? So, that's 10 Mbps upload speed. 4 in a family sharing 10 Mbps upload speed.

Does that make any sense to you?

But you are underestimating the general Indian population

I think you are overestimating the general Indian population. If they were so demanding of upload speeds, our broadband penetration would not be stuck at 6-7%
