Finally my city has been added to the launching soon list for xstream fiber. It shows a countdown of around 59 days. But still I saw no wiring or box by airtel around the city. When can I expect it to be done. Someone said it just takes 20-30 days to install fiber. The countdown is of no use. I am eagerly waiting for their ftth service. Any ideas?

You expect whole city to be covered in one go?
First posh areas then slowly to other areas that too maybe.

I can't even get a new replacement Sim because all airtel stores are closed. I do assume that they would be fixing wired internet problems. New connections seem unlikely because that would involve people entering your home.

Just an idea I need, how much time do they take to lay fiber in one area? I mean Jio has laid fiber in my area 2 years ago but they didn't launch their service and now they have started covering area next to mine, then the airtel updated their website with my city under launching soon. I was mailing them for a year to launch the Fiber service in Muzaffarnagar but they replied no plans as of now. But after Jio came they updated.

I wouldn't be so optimistic about their countdown. I would take an assumption of at least 6 months. Maybe they will target launch around Diwali, which is hoping COVID subsides by then.

Another difference between Jio and Airtel is that Airtel lays its wires underground, which means more work and time. Jio is simply working on overhead cables in many places.

In my area (Mumbai) they laid conduits in Dec 2014. But started laying FOC thru these conduits in Nov 2018 & I got my connection in Jan 2019. That's the speed at which they worked. Everything about them had been disappointing.

Airtel Xstream Fiber to be Launched in Several Cities Soon, Roll-out Facing Delay Due to Lockdown

it's cute how even news services cannot get the name of the service right.

i doubt it's a copy editing problem. plus i assume the news was created out of a press release issued by the company to syndicated networks.
