Well there it is lads
Two days into the lockdown and the connection went down
Been around 36 hours now and it doesn't seem like there's going to be a resolution, unfortunately
All I wanted to ask is, Excitel support says they can't get their technicians out during the lockdown, is that correct? or are ISPs exempted as a necessary service?
 
telecom services is mentioned in the exemption list to the best of my knowledge.
 
gurgaon ki list to itni lambi hai. electricians, plumbers, lift engineers and so many others have been added to the list. i could be wrong... maybe i saw telecom support people in the localized gurgaon list 🤔
 
I guess idhar bhi same hi hona chahiye fir toh.
Chalo I'll contact support again, call them out on their shenanigans.
Hopefully something comes out of this.
Sad thing is dad's a doc and he has to unnecessarily go back to the hospital and risk getting infected because he can't get emergency reports online due to this outage.

best option is to use mobile internet for important stuff. if my excitel goes down today, i would keep my expectations low to get any support. even if the guy is available, it's possible that they would run out of wires, switches etc. sooner than later.
 
Yeah we've been working out of mobile data this whole time but even the biggest daily data packs fall short ever so often due to the sizes of radiological imagery.
Do you know what a blinking red LOS light on a Syrotech ONT means? I was guessing a backend issue but if it's something I can solve myself then I'm up for suggestions!

if the cable is damaged or some other hardware fault, it should bring down the internet of your neighbors as well. best is to ask around and see if only you are affected or others are as well.

2 days of downtime
Countless tickets and chats with Excitel
No resolution
Figured out who my LCO was
Directly called them
Within half an hour 2 guys are outside my house and the issue is resolved.
Damn!

EDIT: Turns out the issue was that someone had sliced the fiber while flying kites. I see only one neighbor flying kites. He's gonna get a stink eye from me everytime I see him now.
