How long usually is the IP address issued for a private residence valid in days?
I'm trying to figure out whether or not I need to get a static IP from them

Thanks

PS: I have an active internet connection with ACT Hyderabad

Chances are you don't need a static IP.

In fact, it's more secure to have dynamic IP, since no one attacker can keep track of any possible IP leaks.

Use this if you want to host something or the other:

You're right dynamic IP's are way more secure.
I'm trying to WFH and my company has a Geofence setup. Due to which they said they can whitelist my IP and recommended me to get a static IP.
The customer service clowns at ACT have been horrible but in times like these I can't blame them

@websterfever85 Set up Noip and then give your company the allocated ID from Noip for them to whitelist.

Your company's IT team shouldn't be that silly to not know about Noip.

Who still needs static IP in 2020 for WFH?

My company wants me to stick to using a static IP and these clowns at ACT are not being helpful. Any suggestions on how do I escalate this with these idiots at ACT?

Umm that's disappointing since they created a support ticket for it and said it will done soon but they still haven't reached out to me for 2 days.
Are they just lying?

I had a diff experience in Delhi. So finally disconnected. Still not received 15days fiber cut amt +200rs.
Doesn't reply to email. Phone support is hopeless.

I believe your company wants to whitelist your IP address so that you can connect to resources in your office. If aforementioned assumption is correct, DDNS clients (like NoIP) will not solve your problem.

DDNS clients enable you solve the problem of reaching your network from internet by encapsulating the ip-address details behind a sub-domain but in this scenario as you are trying to reach out to your company's network your own public will be used for outgoing connections.

In case you do not get static IP address from your service provider, your next best option would be to deploy a VPN server in the cloud.

Cheers!!
