Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband in Jammu

Among ISPs having a significant coverage in JK, JioFiber was the first mover (operates both in Kashmir & Jammu), then came Bharat Fiber (again both Kashmir and Jammu) and Airtel Fiber is the last one to the party (presently limited to Jammu city).

A majority of FIber subscribers in Kashmir region are on JioFiber. In Jammu region, it is somewhere close to 60:30 for Jio:BSNL, 10 to the rest.

However, do note that Jiofiber and Bharat Fiber have separate operational areas in Jammu city and in 99% of the city, they do not compete. Somewhat similar situation in Srinagar as well, though there may be some overlap.

In Jammu city, Airtel is entering selective localities (Jio / BSNL territory), knowing that people will eventually latch on given its superior QoS.

^For everyone curious about Airtel's business strategies or why Airtel is not opening in their place despite the loyal userbase.
It was Greenfield area for Airtel in my area and no other competitors as well. Airtel directly came with fiber here

Per the Airtel team, their BB plans in JK are advance payment type (sort of like prepaid), hence no separate GST component.
So in J&K, Airtel fiber plans are not postpaid and their is no monthly billing cycle? Is it like prepaid JioFiber, when you wish you can recharge?
That's means there is no late fees penalty?
Please explain how it's work ?

Plans are postpaid like everywhere else. But they are pushing for 6/12 months advance giving some discount. One can opt for monthly billing cycle.

Also as per my friend Airtel is covering most of the Jammu city. Also Jio Fiber is not widely available in Jammu, only select few areas, so is bsnl.

Airtel's Terms & Conditions for Advance Billing of Broadband services - "Advance billing module is available in specific markets".

So the advertised price - 599, 799, 1099, 1599 in JK is inclusive of tax as it should be per the T&C.

But so many people are claiming that they pay rentals in advance and yet they are charged tax over the advertised amount !!!

@Sanchit3412 I am from Jammu and since you also from Jammu & you have Airtel Xstream Fiber Prepaid connection, can you please answer to my these few long questions. If you are not sure about some questions then please verify it from your local airtel installation team or customer care. I would be very thankful to you if you answer to all my queries.

Please answer in step by step (serial vise).

Q1 (i). In case of one month advance during prepaid connection of Airtel Fiber, what are the :-
Installation charge,
Activation charge,
ONT Router charge,
Fiber cable charge ?

(ii) And what would be the charges in case if we pay 6 months advance payment during the time of connection?

Q2. Does they really charge for the Fiber Cable or it is free? Because customer care was saying that in my city there is a mandatory charge for fiber cable of Rs750 upto 100mtrs (even if I pay 6 months advance payment) and if need more than 100mtrs than Rs8/mtr will be charge extra. Had they also demand fiber cable charges from you?

Q3. Which ONT Router they have provide you? Please also share it's full model number.

Q4. For Airtel Xstream Fiber Prepaid plans, is there any kind of billing cycle & late fees penalty system? Or there is no complusion to recharge every month and I can recharge when I need like prepaid SIMs ?

Q5. In cases of Airtel Xstream Fiber prepaid connection, can I permanently own the Airtel's ONT Router because this is a prepaid connection and there is no billing cycle and no complusion to recharge every month like postpaid connections. So even if I don't recharge the Airtel fiber connection for many months, can I still keep the router with me ?

Q6. I have also Jio Fiber as a main connection .
So, If I don't recharge Airtel Xstream Fiber Prepaid connection for many months suppose 4 or 5 months & used it only as a backup connection when need, will it's connection (service) remain active or it will get permanently disconnect within few months without recharge?
If I ask in other way, maximum how many months the Airtel Xstream Fiber Prepaid Connection will remain active without do any recharge plan ?

And in case if Airtel Xstream Fiber Prepaid service get disconnect than what to do for connection Re-activate without opting a new connection? Will I have to spend Rs1000 or Rs2000 activation charge again?

Q7. what is the official email id of Airtel fiber customer care? Also provide customer care number other than 121 for those who have non-Airtel SIM?

Q8. Can they provide us any special (hidden) plan if we demand. If we need between ₹799-40mbps and ₹1099-100mbps. for eg., if I need atleast 50 to 60mbps plan at around ₹900. Is it possible?

Actually Some postpaid users said that airtel's customer care is very flexible and they are not very stiff like JioFiber. They can change their plans for those customers who are not satisfied with the service and when customer wants to disconnect the connection. For retaining the customers, they can provide special plans or some discount for same plan.
But I am not sure if this is possible in case of prepaid service of Airtel Fiber. Have you any knowledge about it ?

I don't have it yet.

What I can tell you is that if you pay for 6 months 1099 plan you will not have to pay for anything else other than the plan + you get a 7.5% discount.

so you have to pay only around 6100 for the first 6 months (1099)
