Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband in Jammu

I think its not available in J&K

Airtel is available in jammu, i have a friend in jammu who is on Airtel. They recently launched their FTTH in Jammu..i try to get some more info from him. But it's available 100%.

@dogchap Q1. In which area of Jammu City your friend live?

Q2. Also, Please ask him if he have to pay extra 18%gst in any plan .
For eg. there is a plan Rs799 @ 40mbps unlimited for Jammu, Is 18%gst included in Rs799 or he have to pay 18% extra i.e. Rs 943 ? Because few cities have different t&c which says "All plans inclusive of gst" whereas in many other cities "All plans exclusive of gst" . So please confirm this.

Q3. What Installtion charges & ont charges he paid?

Q4. Which brand & model number ONT router he received?

He lives in the old heritage city.

So he paid 8875/- for 6 months. Yes gst is included in all plans, he's on 1599/- 300mbps/600GB, Also airtel is providing Nokia ont free if you pay for 6 months.

ONT is : G-140W
Installation charges: 2000/-

1000/- cable (150-200 mtr)
1000/- activation.

Telecom services use to be exempted in j&k from service tax before gst regime. Not sure of current position.

@dogchap
Q1. So he got free Nokia ONT on 6 months advanced payment but did he paid any extra charges for cable and Installtion ?

Q2. What is the charge of Nokia ONT only if we pay only one month payment but not 3 or 6 months advanced payment? And Is a refundable security deposit or permanent payment ?
(don't include Rs1000 Installtion charge).

Q3. But in every other cities, Airtel is providing free Nokia ONT and free Installtion including all required accessories like fiber cable and splice box etc if customer pay 3 months advance rental only (not 6 months).
But you are saying that in Jammu they are demanding 6 months advanced rental and also extra cable charges.
So, Please re-verify if free ont and free Installtion also available on 3 months advance payment ?

Q4. When he get his Airtel connection?
Are they still providing connections in these lockdown days?

Q5. If we pay for 3 or 6 months advance rental plan and after few months of usage if we do not satisfied with the speed or the service and want to disconnect the connection & refund, will they provide refund for remaining months?

Please confirm these 5 question from your friend.

Telecom service is taxed at 18% after introduction of GST in JK.

@SG_curiosity Per the Airtel team, their BB plans in JK are advance payment type (sort of like prepaid), hence no separate GST component.

@aatuif Advance payment billing system of Airtel fiber is everywhere.
And 18% gst is included in all plans in new cities where they have just launch the service like Jammu or many other cities where they are going to launch the service like shimla etc but not in the old cities where they are providing service since very long time.

(check the Airtel broadband website, check the coming soon cities & read the line below T&C line "All plans are inclusive of taxes").

Btw, where you live and have you any info about the 5 questions which is asked to dogchap ?

Reg GST on Airtel Fiber plans in some places and not in others - Ok. Wonder why the distinction!

Reg. S. No. 3 of your queries, the last time I spoke with their team, the equipment was free irrespective of the plan / tenure. However, some nominal installation charges are to be paid via online transfer (non-refundable). Further, there was no compulsion to commit/ pay for 3/ 6 months upfront. Do note that there is at-least 1 other ISP (Fiber) in every area they operate (JioFiber, BharatFiber, Netplus etc) in JK.

Reg. S. No. 4 - No retail connections during lockdown AFAIK. However, cables were being laid.

No idea about the other queries.

^For everyone curious about Airtel's business strategies or why Airtel is not opening in their place despite the loyal userbase.
