I got a new Jio Fiber connection this month. Since the Jio modem box comes with support for landline I wanted to get a cordless phone combo, one that will be near modem where my PC is present and the other one in the living room for my parents. I bought the Panasonic KX-TG3712SXB 2.4GHz Cordless phone combo, but caller ID did not work, so I had to return it. Later I found out that Jio Fiber needs DECT supported landline or cordless for caller ID support. According to Amazon listing, Panasonic KX-TG1612 has DECT support. Should I get this or is there better alternative?

Caller id doesn't has anything to do with dect or 2.4ghz. Its a diff setting.
My imported dect cordless never supported cid on airtel adsl but started working on upgrading to vdsl.
Modern voip router have cid setting to fiddle with but i don't think jio will allow it.
Ask jio what is the cid standard they support. Also many cordless sold online are imported one.

@srivatsan2005 There isn't any restriction for Jio Fiber as far as I know. I have been using Panasonic cordless phone with my Jio Fiber connection since September 2019 and the caller ID works perfectly well.
The Panasonic phone which I have is a very old one (more than 5 years old). So I don't know if it is available anymore or not but just for your reference the model is : KX-TGA434BX.
The above is a 5 GHz model but I have tried with 2.4 GHz Panasonic model also. The caller ID works in that model as well. Don't know why you had a problem.

I had a query for you:
one that will be near modem where my PC is present and the other one in the living room for my parents.
How will you connect the phone in your living room to your Jio modem in your PC room? Also, is there any way of connecting 2 landline sets to a single ADSL port on the modem?

@srivatsan2005 caller ID comes in 2 types DTMF and FSK. You need to find out which one is used by Jio and then buy a phone with that CID compatibility. Some desktop phones are compatible with both. Call Jio support to verify.

PS - US uses one of these and all US imports are not compatible with Indian exchanges. Also, DECT is a type of transmission technology used in cordless phones, nothing to do with caller ID. Do your homework before taking the plunge.

I bought a Panasonic 2 line cordless phone from the US and had to buy conversion adapters to make CID work on my BSNL landlines. The same applies to all landlines in India.

Any Caller ID should work with JioFiber. It has no restriction whatsoever. DECT is nothing related to Caller ID. It's a alternative of 2.4 Ghz.

I can confirm that I had to get a dtmf converter to get caller ID working on my cordless imported from USA on airtel landline.

I used to have 2 handset cordless phones setup. One handset was connected via RJ11 to the splitter (this was an MTNL setup, splitter is not relevant here) & the second unit was paired with the first (a built in option) located in another room.
But my phone's worked on the 1.86ghz so I didn't have a fear of interference. Especially the first unit which is very close to the modem cum WiFi router.
This cordless phone worked v well when connected to the Jio modem, caller id worked.

If you on vdsl/vfiber then it will work without converter too. Try it.

hmm. i now have vdsl. i guess i can check without the converter if it works.

I've been using Panasonic Cordless for a decade now and never needed anything special or advance. It's straight plug and play for me on Airtel and JioFiber both.

as mentioned above... cordless phones used in america use different caller id tech than india. models aimed for india never needed converters. i imported mine because i wanted dect6. so i had to get the converter. and as also now clarified... jio might be supporting both caller id techs on their network. and airtel seems to support both on vfiber and fiber connections. adsl definitely required converter on airtel till few years ago.

Again, I never used one even when I was on ADSL and all the units back then were imported from USA only with US Plug Style Adapter.

Total Experience with Cordless is around 20-25 years easily now.

Thanks for the clarification.

The model (Panasonic KX-TG3712SXB) I bought had two units. Only one phone needs to be connected to the base station. Other will be connected wirelessly.

If It supports both. Wonder why it didn't work for me. When I tried to look for caller ID settings the cordless said I have not subscribed for caller ID facility. When receiving a call, it just shows incoming call without any number.
