so 2 weeks ago i got airtel Xstream fiber connection installed at my home.

background story:

so in 2017 i got a call from jio fiber that they are giving free fiber connection for 3 months with refundable security deposit of 4500rs. I opted for this and got it installed. I continued using free jio fiber internet for like 2 years untill they started paid plans.
In those 2 years i got full 95 mbps up and down speed. No complaint in that. But their ping latency and download speed was like horrible for non-peered content. I raised a disconnection request this year and got the security amount of 4500rs back within 20 days.
Then airtel called me and told that they are pre booking for upcoming ftth service in my area and i will get free installation and dual band wifi for 1000rs amount. This amount will be adjusted in 2 bills . 500rs discount per bill for 2 months.
I said yes and within 1 week of request engineers and hired labour started digging my street for underground fiber cables and OLT boxes . This continued for 1 month and work was done.

i again got a call from their engineer that service is live now and they are sending wiring team to my location. And installation process began and within 1 hour connection was installed and internet was up and running.

I choose 200mbps unlimited plan and getting more than 200mbps down and upload speed approximately.

ping is also fine. Just 10ms lesser than jio but surfing websites and streaming is way better than jio.

Any post some ping tests from airtel xtreme fiber ? Need to check with act fiberbet

@anant.del Airtel ping/jitter is a lot worse than ACT. But Airtel is cheaper for faster speeds, more stable across multiple servers, and has zero downtime.

Do share the details once u get it . i am curious to know hows the service when LCO providing it. Its ROCK solid when Airtel provides it directly , so much that i have forgot things like downtime or hiccups, it just works.
Sharing with you Ping test results from my neighbour's connection. ( Plan is 40 Mbps unlimited @799)

Correct me if I am wrong...

@igloo's area is having fiber machine and installment is because.... Airtel is doing underground wiring in that area.

Meaning, Airtel already had fiber in that area, they are not just installing the underground fiber to the homes

So I think wherever Airtel has Tower or broadband already, there are chances they already have fiber in that area... only problem is they don't have the fiber on the streets.

so in igloo's area they are doing it underground with machine.

they might do the pole thing in other areas.. just like jio

but if you have airtel in your area already, you have fiber already. Correct me?

This is what, Jio did. Jio used Reliance Communication's Fiber in Delhi to install JioFiber.

So they will use the same fiber for the broadband for what they are using for the Airtel 4G Towers?

Fiber line was there for many years. But that is mostly for tower thing. When actual ftth fiber is laid you'll seen backlane of each street getting fiber boxes fixed after every few houses.

4g towers needs fiber connection. In my tome town village jio, airtel laid fiber for towers. Airtel sharing that connection with vodafone idea.

Before 4g Airtel laid cables for business purposes. They given leased lines to others.

Now to start broadband services in cities and towns they are laying cables in every street.

Okay. But what I am trying to ask is.. The broadband's backend is being run by the same fiber for the tower or they have different individual fiber coming from their main backend server to the area?

Because street fiber are nothing but an alternative to ethernet.. can we agree to it?

What I am trying to ask is.. What's the backend of those?

Do they use the same fiber for the tower and broadband?

or they run whole new new fiber for the broadband from the main server to the area?

Like in my case...

Airtel has their main office in manesar (Haryana)....

I live in Delhi... So for the tower, they have their wire coming from manesar to Delhi.

Do they use same wire for the broadband or do they have another wire from manesar to delhi for broadband?
