Yes, doesn't make sense to invest on AX APs at this point, atleast for my use cases. 200-300 Mbps which a decent AC AP can provide is more than enough for me.
Also, a single AP is never the solution IMO.
If you want to future proof, get a decent X86 router, and use separate APs. Whenever AX becomes the norm you can simply swap the APs. Going for an all-in-one router cum AP cum whatever IMHO is not future proofing.
