Robocalls in India

anyone else noticing a sudden increase in number of robocalls? not just advertising or spam calls... even from your own bank. calls which used to be from bank reps are basically just recorded messages. just got one from stanchart asking me i wanted to convert a recent transaction into emi. super annoying.
 
yeah getting a bunch of robocalls recently... LIC policy, some voting message etc.

i usually disconnect the call as soon as i hear the start of recorded message so dont know what all messages they are - not from my bank etc.

google/android sometimes flags these as spam callers so that is useful
 
Complaining to TRAI is pretty dangerous. I have actually been threatened a couple of times. Blocking is the smarter option.
 
the problem is that i do not want to block numbers of my bank or card company. i would just prefer manual calls. automated calls cannot repeat details that you might have missed. automated calls cannot answer your questions about the thing being offered to you.
 

They normally use different numbers for promotional and service related matters, so you should be safe.

I prefer manual calls too, as long as they are not repetitive. Although for promotions I would prefer sms/emails, calls are too invasive.
 
stanchart has like 5 sms messages that i get on a weekly basis. same message repeatedly. some of them come on the same id which has otp details so cannot block it. had to eventually switch to sms organizer because it somehow manages to sort out individual messages from same id in different groups. usually works well.

d2h was probably the first company that went overboard with robocalls with me. got their calls on a daily basis even when i stopped using their connection.
 
Yup. Seems someone from their operator itself provided my contact details, and that person kept calling me repeatedly, then started messaging, then stalked me on social media (they used my mobile number to search my profile) and since some of my details were public they used it to threaten and coerce me to take my complaint back.

And this happened not once, but 3 times, on 2 occasions the people was simply apologetic, and 3rd one was a nasty fellow.
 
Two years later, trai dnd app still hasn't fixed call reporting. And robocalls frequency keeps on increasing.
 
Yes still trai app doesn't work properly. Although I have complained from official apps of airtel and jio. They always close the complaint and mark it as service call/sms 🙁
 
I keep blocking every time I get a robocall. Now the number of calls have decreased significantly. Phone reports every nowand then that a call has been blocked.
