Nokia G-140W-F bridge mode?

So they haven't done anything from their side till now. I just went ahead and edited the router html and removed the <fieldset> disabled attribute and was able to change the settings on the WAN page successfully. Now only VOIP is provisioned on the Nokia router and I'm able to PPPoe from my router. The changes seem persistent on reboot, not sure if they'll force the settings from the backend again.
Hi Jay,

I need your help, please.

I have exactly the same issue that you faced. I'm trying to hook up a newly installed Airtel fiber connection to my existing TP-Link load balance router so that I can load balance 2 separate BB connections; and have a (automatically restored) backup line in case one of them fails.

In my TP-Link load balance router >>>I have already configured my 2-year-old Microscan ISP connection (PPPoE) as WAN1; and would like to now add this new Airtel connection (PPPoE) as WAN2.
To do that, I need to disable the WAN connection in Airtel's Nokia G-2425G-A router that automatically runs when the device is powered. I assume 2 concurrent connections to the Airtel PPPoE account will not be accepted by Airtel's server (I doubt if any ISP will ever allow that).

The Airtel engineer/technician had a look and gave up after having a long conversation with his more experienced colleagues. The ticket is still open though. As mentioned previously in this forum, the Nokia G-2425G-A router is heavily locked down and will not allow me to disable the WAN connection profile.

My question/request to you is this: How did you go about breaking the Javascript (?) controls that have disabled the entire page. A step by step explanation (or a pointer to some tutorial) would be highly appreciated. Any programming skills I have are pretty basic (limited to earlier generation languages/databases); and virtually none in web technologies.

Many thanks to you in advance for your kind help.
Cheers!

Finally got it working. I reset Nokia router. Enabled the bridge mode on LAN1(Bridge mode for me didn't work on any other port than LAN1). Configured PPOE on my Asus router. I didn't have to do vlan tagging and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for me helping me out.

@smnrock after reading your question I tried deleting vlan tag and it is still working.
I did this and this worked on my G-2425G-A . its like having 2 airtel connections at once. I wonder if we could get 2 wan ip in load balancing and make this single double speed connection.

Hi again Jay, Please ignore my earlier message. Managed to locate another post of your explaining this. Many thanks. Cheers!

Bridge mode on Nokia router G-2425G-A

I have been posting on IBF for a couple of days now. Finally, my problem is solved. Thought I’d share my experience for the benefit of others.

Before I commence, much much Dhanyavaad, Thanks, Merci, Danke…. to all folks (Jay, Tellanand, Rajil, Rehan, akkothari and many others) in this forum who spend their valuable time in sharing their experience and skills for the benefit of others. May the force be with you!

Secondly, a disclaimer: I’m a novice when it comes to networking when compared to the gurus in this forum, but looked upon with awe by retirees in my society 🙂 … so I might not be able to answer all your questions. Will try though.

My situation was/is as follows:
a) Have 5 access points distributed over my flat to ensure good Wi-Fi coverage. I manage this using a TP-Link load balance router and a D-Link unmanaged 8-port switch.
b) Routers and switch are backed up by a regular UPS and all access points are PoE injected using the same UPS.
c) My existing ISP (Microscan in Pune) is pretty good considering that he gives truly unlimited data (No FUP). But his network loses power when there is a power cut. So, UPS backup and PoE injection at my end didn't mean squat.
d) So decided to go in for Airtel which works even during power outages.
e) Wanted to retain my old ISP as well, for link backup (on failover) & whatever load balancing this router promises to do…

Airtel installed the blasted Nokia G-2425G-A router and made my life hell in the past week.

I put LAN1 on bridge mode and deleted WAN connection profile “1_TR069_INTERNET_R_VID_100”. Did PPPoE connection from my main TP-Link router. No luck.

Read in this forum that LAN4 works well. Reset the Nokia router and tried the same thing with LAN4 in bridge mode, but without deleting WAN connection profile “1_TR069_INTERNET_R_VID_100”. No luck.

The junior engineer handling my case told me to put in on LAN4 bridge mode and try again. No luck. I keep telling him that I have already tried LAN4, and Bridge Mode on LAN4 probably needs to be switched on in Airtel’s server (backend).

The junior engineer speaks (yet again) to some senior expert termed as NAT (whatever NAT means); and suddenly it starts working. The junior engineer has no clue how it has worked out. I’m convinced that Airtel turned on Bridge Mode on LAN4 at their end to make this happen.

VLAN 100 doesn’t seem to be making any difference. My router didn’t have 100, but allowed me to create one. The connection works with VLAN100 (created by me), or with VLAN2988 (default value provided by TP-Link). I have no idea what VLAN means. Just putting the facts out there.

Finally, please play nice - and be patient and persistent. This Nokia router model is new and they’re all groping in the dark. Further, Airtel outsources these jobs to underpaid chaps who are going through the learning curve (the junior engineer handling my case was one of them). He didn’t have much experience, but had the dedication to solve my case. And I respect that. I was a little mean to him and I regret it. I look back at my days when I started out in life as a rookie and it was the kindness of others that made all the difference.

Screenshots of the Nokia and TP-Link routers attached.
The first two - SS1.jpg and SS2.jpg are of Airtel's Nokia router.
The other two - SS3.jpg and SS4.jpg are of my TP-Link router.

Cheers!

I got a new Airtel Xstream connection today and they supplied the G-2425G-A. I can't delete the WAN connection even with JavaScript edits. I saw that root access has been gained by Shailendra to the device. Can you or someone who got the info from him help me out with this, please? The customer service engineer is completely uncooperative. He wants me to chuck my AX88U cuz the Nokia device is "clearly superior".

I highly appreciate any help.

Hi @ImmortalZ You dont need to delete the WAN profile in Nokia router. You will get 2 Public IP's one for Nokia router and another for your own router.

Enable the bridge mode to port 4(other ports might also work, i haven't tested them) in Nokia router admin page(Under Network -> Lan) and connect it to your own router's WAN port. Configure VLAN ID as 100 for internet in your own router(this is v.imp step) and PPPOE auth details in your own router (PPPOE Auth details - username take from Nokia router WAN settings and password is relationship number mentioned in your airtel bill). This setup works and you can disable wireless in your Nokia router if needed.

I tried that one - I had mined all of this forum to find all the combinations people had tried. I kept getting PAP Authentication Error on the Asus router. I managed to get a hold on someone knowledgeable. They raised a ticket to their backend to "Enable" bridge mode. That didn't work.

Then the engineer came out and looked at it and was stumped. He finally replaced it with a Huawei HG8145v5. Changed the WAN connection to Bridged WAN. And surprise surprise, still not working. I am still getting PAP Authentication Error. The Huawei device easily worked when in WAN Routed mode. He spent 4 hours trying to troubleshoot this and left after getting nowhere. He said he'll come again tomorrow.

Does anyone need Airtel to whitelist their router in their backend for PPPOE authentication to complete? At this point I'm completely stumped.

Hi all, I have recently got Airtal Xstream broadband connection at my home, as i went to setting in (Nokia G-2425G-A) I can't see any option there to use Nokia modem as bridge mode and use PPPOE in my Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, can any one help me in this please.

I have gained Root Access to it , ping me if it helps , ill share you instruction.

Hi! I've got a very similiar Nokia router (an I-240W-A) which uses the same shell, but it has the ssh and telnet ports filtered, so I can't access them. Instead I had to access via UART.

It'd be very useful to have root access. Can I ask for instructions via DM?

I can share whatever I find in case someone is interested.
