Hello All,

Below servers of google give less than 65ms latency from Indian ISPs.
Some how not all DNS servers of BSNL, Tata, Reliance & AirTel resolve to these new IP addresses of google.

Ti get around the DNS problem, just add following lines to your C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file

# google
209.85.153.83 mail.google.com gmail.com
209.85.153.104 www.google.com www.google.co.in google.com
209.85.153.85 www.orkut.com orkut.com img1.orkut.com img2.orkut.com img3.orkut.com img4.orkut.com images.orkut.com

C:\DOCUME~1\balla\Desktop\tmp>ping www.google.com

Cool... It really shows a different.. How did you find these servers

I happened to notice these ip addresses on my BSNL connection at home. but my workplace VSNL dns server resolves to a different IP address. So i digged little deep and got a workaround for people having a DNS server like me 🙂

this seems authenticate this time but never never never put IPs in hosts file in such a waytomorrow i can say, make google faster by pointing it to say 11.22.33.44 and which wud be actually my own IP and then i can make page look completely like google and steal ur cookies or even password.merc is totally new user and its infact his first post. so we dont know him but looks authenticate. although reverse lookup seems to be pointing to google, but if u dont take care, then next time u can send ur password to anyone.

yup. and google might discard these ips in the future which would make it bad for the users who do it now 😛these are temporary solutions. and are not recommended at all 😀

yes its not recommended.its unlikely that google wud discard IPs becasue its full series owned by them. but it can be that these are just test IPs/test servers or servers under testing and can mess ur account.

I checked it now, all three are now pointing to google.com, and interestingly the last one (Google) is showing a google page, without the google logo.

Definitely test servers...

tomorrow i can say, make google faster by pointing it to say 11.22.33.44 and which wud be actually my own IP and then i can make page look completely like google and steal ur cookies or even password.

merc is totally new user and its infact his first post. so we dont know him but looks authenticate. although reverse lookup seems to be pointing to google, but if u dont take care, then next time u can send ur password to anyone.

my id is not new.. its infact 3yrs old id, which i created when i had issues with my first internet connection with Sify. Well you are right about the first post.

and as you mentioned, we should never put any ipaddresses give by a stranger with out Crosschecking. use a site like whois.net and verify the authenticity of the ip addresses before using them. and those ip addresses are definately Not some google test servers. BSNL dns servers already started resolving google sites to those ipaddresses. You can try using
ns2.bsnl.in - 218.248.240.79
ns3.bsnl.in - 218.248.240.208
as dns servers.

I have a big bunch of DNS servers list of different ISPs, if anybody is interested, i can post them

They might be (field) testing the new servers, isp's might gradually update it..So the new google datacenter is up and running by now (?),quite nice to see..I can see a lot of intl traffic being saved..

yes hops have gone down to 11 for mail.google.com and JUST 7 for Google. but its still 16 hops for google.com (i.e. without www, it still show other IP range)

i am wondering what will happen to those using opendns? wud indian users get indian IPs? as of now opendns is still redirecting to their own IPs.

however doesnt matter to me as my system uses google's own DNS for google.com domain and opendns for other domains.
