I could do that in Android 11 also doing for more than an year switching on airplane and using wifi and bluetooth not a new thing.

Couldn't you turn on WiFi and Bluetooh manually anyway?

Life saving feature for me. Sometimes when I need OTP i have to again do the same stuff so that I can get OTP. Also it's pain to just turn on and off wifi/Bluetooth all the time. Bluetooth feature was already there but now wifi will also have it. It's the best feature for me who always stays at airplane mode with all devices (Wifi Calling).

I was also able to do that, but I am using Samsung phones for past 3-4 years, so I thought its Samsung One UI feature, and Google added to Vanilla Android recently (like some other features Google did) 😀

Samsung for me keeps Bluetooth enabled on switching to flight mode. I have to manually turn on Wi-Fi. No vowifi calls in flight mode for me though.

Pixels would now remember your setting in flight mode from what I read after the new change.

Stock Android remembers the previous settings. As per you guys it seems like on Custom UI's the manufacturer limits this feature.

Hopefully I'll get the wifi feature it next year on my Moto phones with Android 13. Bluetooth to not turn off was already enabled since Android 12.

Okay, I tried enabling Wifi calling on airplane mode on my Note 9 and it works lol. So, what's the point? Helps save battery or something?

It saves battery to quite an extent because when your mobile is receiving a weak signal, then it is working hard to ensure proper connectivity. That means more strain on your battery.
In airplane mode, there is no question of mobile latching to cellular tower. So no battery drain.
And most importantly, it helps you make calls when the signal is patchy.
