@socrates My guess is that they'd offer a relatively cheaper flat rate plan for using VoWiFi during international roaming. I doubt they'd offer that for free. 😉 From their side, it would be way cheaper than depending on other international operators paying their charges etc.

@socrates Yeah interesting point. We will have to wait till they launch international wifi plans and provide clarity.

Operators in other countries do provide that feature, I mean you can use VoWiFi to make calls home while abroad with no roaming charges. Will have to wait and see.
 

VoWiFi on Jio is not working if my phone is in airplane mode but connected to WiFi. Is this the way it should be or it should also be working in Airplane mode?

Yes, I can confirm it does work. Both with just data/VoLTE off + connected to Wifi and and in airplane mode + connected to Wifi. It works across all 3 ISPs that I am connected to. So far the implementation on iOS is very stable. Kudos to Jio for getting it right so soon after roll out.

The information posted refers to calling international numbers from India and the fact that they would be charged. It doesn't have anything to do with making calls when outside of India.
 
Jio has confirmed that the service is not available when outside India.. Looks like they have IP based restrictions. However, they say, it will be launched soon.
