Reliance Jio Fiber STB picture quality issue.

The HD channels I am watching on Jio STB are not of HD quality.

If I do a speed test on Netvelocity app then it shows 40-50 Mbps which should be enough for HD quality, however, if I do a speed test via JioPages browser speedtest.com or fast.com it shows the usual 95 Mbps

I have no clue what is happening

Not sure about the speed test results. But, regarding quality, Jio may be restricting the quality for now (or forever), just like how Amazon controls the quality of videos of youtube in its firestick platform (in fire OS precisely). We can use / watch only a maximum of 720p video in YouTube via Amazon firestick, irrespective of higher quality of original video.

see in the app settings to change quality or in device settings.
like 720p 1080p 4k.
If it's there select 1080p.

I think my fire tv stick plays 1080p youtube videos just fine.
But I bought it after the release of native youtube app for firetv stick.

Watching live football on Hotstar and the picture quality is bad on Jio STB.

However its fine if I use Chromecast and my own hotstar account.

So the connection isn't definitely the issue here

There is also a stream delay of at least 20-30 seconds.

I got the notification for goal before the stream showed it.

Edit : but I think that's Hotstar issue. Because it often use to happen with me while using hotstar via Chromecast

You are right. I watched only selected videos. Today, I was watching another video that showed up in 1080p. Earlier, I was watching 1080p60fps videos (in mobile / laptop) that was shown only in 720p in Amazon Fire OS. It's strange that Amazon Fire OS shows 1080p, but downgrades 1080p60fps to 720p. 😕😕😕

@pothi I had issues with that earlier but after I moved the FS to another HDMI port, it was working fine.
for some reason, it is sensitive to the HDMI port.
In my 2015 Samsung Smart tv HDMI ports are marked like Settop box, MHL, etc.
So I believe its something to do with that. You try switching the HDMI port might work fine.

I have a new set top box installed by jio yesterday.

Model: JHS D200 V2

The box seem to have numerous picture and sound quality issues. I am not happy at all and feel like returning it. Although I might have received a faulty set top box .

I have 4 TV sets at my home one 32 inch Sony and 3 55inch Marq Android TVs(Google set top box) . I also have a Mecool km3 set top box (Google certified), Which I use with my Sony TV. So I am telling this after comparing jio fibre set top box with Marq Android tv inbuilt set top box and mecool Android TV set top box connected to same TV sets.

1. Poor quality colour reproduction. Colours produced by mecool set top box is best with excellent depth, contrast, clarify, colours are deep, detailing is good, you can easily distinguish red , orange, brown yellow colours. Colours and details produced by Marq tv set top box is also good though not as good as mecool connected to same tv. My Marq tv supports 8 bit(1.07 billion colors) . Colours literally pop out with both mecool and inbuilt set top box.
The colours produced by Jiofibre set top box appear washed out dull, lacks details, red orange, yellow, brown all appear the same . It may be a colour calibration issue. Pictures are also blur with poor contrast and depth.

2. Sound with both mecool and Marq Android TV inbuilt set top box support Dolby ,DTS HD. Excellent sound reproduction and clarity. Jiofibre set top doesn't seem to support Dolby DTS stereo sounds.

3. And yes some of the apps such as voot, Sonyliv, doesn't seem to support Full HD and there is no option to change to Full HD. Even YouTube app seems to be pushing only SD quality. Although I have set 4k or 1080p.

Also both mecool set top box and Jiofibre set top seem to have same amlogic chip set with both having Mali g31 gpu
