@rtr00t u should send an email with the screenshots of your speedtests and subscriber code to their help desk email address. They will respond to it much faster .That's how I solved their speed issues when I had the connection
I already did. I think the speeds are getting better each time i run a test since today evening but no official update yet.
Let see what they do about it.

Hello, what is this bridge connection you speak of.

I'm a new Asianet customer and it's been problem after problem for me. It's not even been a week since activation and there isn't a day which I have not faced issues. I have major packet loss and latency issues at peak usage times.

I had better quality when I had a DSL connection (BSNL). Not at all what I expected from an fiber connection.

@steam Bridge connection means connecting your isp given router to another home router so that the internet is accessed from the home router itself while isp router acts like a modem for just passing the signals to the main router which will be your own one ,acting like the main router. The advantages being isp routers are not always of good quality especially in wifi segment, so having a good quality router and using it in the bridge mode gives u many advantages being in the speeds wifi range etc..

As for your connection issue ,u have said that u are facing issues during peak times isn't it. Its happening usually with the small isps these lockdown days since home usage is increased more than ever ,probably asianet upstream bandwidth is choked especially to tata/vsnl. If u are facing packet loss and latency issues all the time then there maybe problems with your fiber cable .Send them an email to the help desk with speed test screenshots and they will help you. If the issues are during peak times u cannot expect them to resolve immediately, since upstream bandwidth resolutions takes more time ,and lots of users will be affected by it . Also asianet will be probably overselling their bandwidth since they are the cheapest ones to provide 100mbps speeds at 800rs.so that's also a concern
As for bsnl it's a tier 1 isp like jiofiber and airtel so their backend will be sufficient. U cannot compare bsnl with a local isp.

@philip hello! Thanks for the reply.

If I had known of this beforehand I would not have went with Asianet anyway. Everyone of my friends I asked said they have no issues like this. Pretty sure it's a 'me' problem.

Also, what I don't understand is whenever I have said issues, there is no reduction in the bandwidth which l believe is a (rectifiable) problem on their end?

I get constant 200down/50up regardless of the network issues. The speed is there. The quality, though, is severely lacking.

@Sammy hello!

So I had a technician come here (via customer care) and rewire(?) the t-box which did absolutely nothing. He said he has escalated the issue to higher authority who'll do a 'site visit' and promptly closed the ticket.

Called him up and gave him a few choice words. I had to reopen the ticket. Asianet customer care and technicians are next to useless.

@steam If the problem is affecting only u, then their maybe some problem with fibre cable ,can u check the pon status from the modem page specifically rx and tx power.packet loss can happens due to some connections issues at their olt.
Which all sites u have packet loss can u do a traceroute ..
Site visit people are different people than the technicians u have to show him the packet loss otherwise he just do a speedtest and leave .They May also change ur modem blaming modem for the issues. I had numerous times modems changed by them for the docsis connections. Also u can directly contact the nodal in charge of your district and explain the problem to him. The best ways to make them do something is either by email or by contacting the nodal officer

Here is the ping when there is a problem. Very erratic and jitter is throught he roof. Note the packet loss as well.

Will send the rest as soon as I can access my pc. Thanks a bunch for helping.

even my friend was complaining about Asianet Fiber as she is not able to do WFH because of slowness , frequent freezing etc. I guess this would be due to high latency.

This seems to be an issue within the connectivity from asianet node to your premise. The problem can be at their olt where all the fiber cables are terminating.I said this because asianet altough dont have direct peering with google ,peers with Google thorugh an akamai node.sites like google will rarely have issues with any isp so the problem will be within the fiber line itself or at the olt port itself

Here are the results you asked for @philip . It's even worse now. Thinking of cancelling the connection and falling back to the 4mbit/s DSL connection.

I think your Tx level is too high? Not too sure here I'm not too well versed on this. Don't rush back to DSL to be honest, get it fixed and it should be good. Probably just an issue on their end since its a new connection.

Optical signal levels good @Sammy @steam

However 40ms to the gateway is odd. Could you pls do a continuous ping to the ONT device from your pc? I suspect the ONT is bad or maybe is not able to handle the load at times? Many of these all in one devices doesn't work too well if there is a lot of traffic.

Do you have another wireless router? If so which one? Set up the ONT in bridge mode so that it behaves like a dumb modem and NAT is done by your main router.

Just as @varkey said the latency during the 1st hop to your modem itself is 40 ms which is very unlikely and your modem is faulty and it cannot handle high loads . Whenever the technician comes if the issue happens then they will replace ur modem but they will be issuing a similar modem..

Otherwise you can invest some 2.3k and get a new gigabit router and set ur current modem in bridge modem and ur new router will do internet and stuffs and u will not face anymore hiccups
But pls confirm it that does asianet supports bridge mode as I heard some isp blocking it.

@varkey Hello!

You may be on to something here. Think the modem they gave me is a lemon. Also attached is another traceroute. Could the Asianet dns server be problematic?

The only other router i have happens to be 150 mbit/s. Also do not have 2 cat 5e cables as I am not sure if cat 5 will be able to handle 200 mbit. As for the network load, there are 5 different Asianet fiber connections including mine in my immediate vicinity (picked up by my wifi). Could that also be a factor?
