Have you tried it? I can drop cable, and after a few weeks, just register new fiber connection using parents contact info to avoid it right?
thanks for informing anyway, just more reasons to jump to other ISPs whenever available.

I think u try that. if atleast the name is different then may be they would consider it as new connection

@aerunManu Both have their own pros and cons. As for airtel u will have zero downtime zero speeds and packet loss . But the main con is since it's a copper connections max speeds u will get is 40 mbps and uploads are much less in the range of 5 to 10mbps. Otherwise there not bigger problems with airtel. As for asianet it entirely depends on area wise while some areas has issues like packet loss speeds drops while some areas can match airtel in terms of perfomance also u will get higher speeds with asianet . I have almost zero downtime with asianet since I taken the connection. Best thing is to ask around about the asianet with neighbours and take it

Asianet has the best routing which is comparable to airtel

Hi, one clarification... was planning to take asianet fibernet in poojapura trivandrum. As per the installation guy, i need to buy a dual band 5ghz routerwith additional 1.2 k charge tto get a full 150mbps wifi connection, else it will be only 50mbps via a single band router. Why is this so? Are they capping the speed or a substandard router provided?

@ANS yes their single genexis router is giving only 50 mbps, u can buy single band router, and buy another wifi router and put it in the ap mode. From what I know asianet modems are solely their property should be returned upon connection termination

I was on Airtel Bangalore 40MBps copper and it was solid with the daily online classes for 2 kids and both of us working.

Now, on Asianet Fiber at Ravipuram, Kochi. Modem is ZTE 602W. Have added my own router Asus RT N66U and disabled the inbuilt wifi of ZTE. Yet to put the ZTE in bridge mode (actually raised a ticket but yet to resolve). Using it for the last couple of weeks and I am satisfied with the performance. The speeds on US servers of testmy.net show very slow speeds as compared to Airtel Bangalore. So the routing is different and since most of my heavy usage (video/audio/desktop sharing) are with folks in India, it is working very good.

Coming to the issue, from the last 3-4 days, there is a problem running Webex Meetings application. The connection doesn't go through to the server and looks like blocked. I logged a ticket on Saturday and it is yet to be resolved.

Does anyone else face a similar issue with certain ports/services getting blocked?

Webex works fine now, not sure if they did something after raising the ticket. No updates so far.

Another issue I face is the huge jitter in latency with europe and US servers. I always had very bad experience in convincing such issue with the support folks. Any suggestion?

Their QoS became total dogshit after the lockdowns hit and their users surged. Their latency/speeds are very much hit or miss nowadays, very comparable to KeralaVision.

I don't face so much issues, but I have been lately getting very slow uploads to Dropbox and all, like max 8 mbps not going above that

You can only track/test upto a local gateway.

Once its out of Asianet gateway, no one has any control, its all dependent upon the routing on the internet and number of hops / congestion etc.

You can only check how much speed you are getting etc, quality of packets reaching the destination server has a lot of uncontrollable variables.

im on Asianet fiber and its the worst in terms of speed. they give good speeds to servers on India but outside India they have poor speeds. better go some tier 1 isp like airtel. I know my reply is a little late but hopefully it helps someone out
