Got my STB today, tried to install jio tv apk but it seems like the box is locked or whatever i am not able to enable the "unknown sources" thing in the settings.

@aayush - Yes noticed that. For a second I thought sideloading was back on. 😀

What if i install a brand new stb... do i have to update it to use it ?

I used the button at the bottom and reached the recovery screen.. theres an option for update via adb .
Connected STB to PC with a USB male to male cable
(Tried both ports on STB)
But the PC can't detect the STB .
cmd command adb devices doesnt show any device.
Can anyone try it out?

btw there are some points 4 alinged in line for communication GND, TX RX & 3.3V power, maybe someone which hardware skills could test it too

Just for information in FireTV Sticks required to short the pins to enable boot, similarly did you try to short the pin, while plugged in? as far i know in firetv it was on of the legs in emmc/boot and ground, pretty sure it should be same here but it could also bring the risk of bricking the device.

i have not tried it, as long ago i had file manager installed using which i am still able to backup files and also install updates of ThopTV etc.

could you share the images and mention the device box details make sure you mask the MAC/WIFI/SERIAL NO ADDRESS

i have very easy solution for u all. replacement is free of jio box. factory reset box. then unplug the power.in middle of factory reset. box will stuck at boot screen. then call customer care.. they will schedule engineering team.. then they will replace box. in new box don't connect internet. 1st install apps with apk installer. and install new apk installer search on google. give that apk installer permission. install one app with new apk installer now u can connect internet. after update. new apk installer will be their until u factory reset your box.

I have found few of its software which can flash images on Android devices powered by amlogic processors,

As the images i have uploaded has Reset Button and Jio Hybrid STB 200v2 also uses AMLOGIC it tool should work, but now we need older images,, currently working to get those u can search the below in google and install there are some device drivers included for JioSTB in this tool.

Amlogic_USB_Burning_Tool_v2.1.7.1 (8MB)

Your method might work but if the Jio team finds out some way to detect this, then would be an issues anyways.

The Default ApkInstaller Package name for Hybrid STB JHS D200 v2 is "com.droidlogic.appinstall" using which anyone can install packages,

Could you mention the APK Installer which you would recommend ??

As i will recommend to install ES File Explorer (17.67MB) Download as this is one which i use through i have the lower version i wont update mine as i can still install and uninstall various apps through it.

Can't take pictures right now.

Its the Blue Hybrid STB without any version mentioned.
It has an 3.5mm jacks too.
Flip the box to see the bottom. There is a small arrow pointing to one of the holes.

Thats the location of the reset button.
With the box powered off. Press and hold the button. Used a needle. Then power on the box. you should see jio boot logo first. Then the recovery options. Then release the reset button. And the recovery menu can be navigated with a usb keyboard.
