Disappointed with Reliance #JioFiber (as a "power user")

It's been ~2 years now that the society where I live has had the Free Jio Fiber service, 100/100 line.

Speeds are great, not just to "big players" using CDNs, but even some of my dedicated servers in EU.

However, it is quite sad how they are using DPI to filter so many websites (not just pr0n, even stuff like streamable). Using nightly with DNS over HTTPS and Encrypted SNI bypasses this at least for all cloudflare websites, but still.

However my biggest gripe is their use of a CGNAT, which basically kills any hope of port forwarding. Wanted to have a basic NAS type server, and be able to check into my home network from outside as well, as well as maybe a Jellyfin media server. Seems like none of this will be possible.

Also, they have full support for IPv6, however even though each device on the network has a unique identifiable IPv6 address, and I have every possible Firewall setting in the Router page turned off, I cant event host on IPv6. Seems there is no way to connect to the machine.

I really hope they can update their route in the future. There is also no option of running a custom router since their box that handles Fiber -> Ethernet is the router and seems to be proprietary.

End rant. Anyway, for you guys on Jio, how has the experience been so far?

How much speeds do you get on Plex streaming from EU?

I get full 100 mbps download speed from my plex server in Europe.

Have you tried ZeroTier? ZeroTier – Global Area Networking
Would solve all your remote access issues. I'm not on Jio and I do get a public IP address which lets me access anything directly, but I still go through ZeroTier as it is easy, transparent and secure. You wouldn't even realise you are remote.

@varkey thanks for the suggestion, but honestly, at that point, I'd rather just grab a $2 VPS off of BuyVM and run my own OpenVPN / Reverse tunnel, much more control / power. I kind of wanted to be able to directly open ports without going through hoops.

@anand777 speeds vary, nForce gives ~4-5MB/s, novoserve gives ~10MB/s, leaseweb (NL) gives ~5-7MB/s

Though I live in Bombay, which is where undersea cables from EU come into India, might give slight edge over plaves like Delhi / Kolkata etc.
Thought I could build a 50TB permaseeding server for private trackers but seems like that won't happen anytime soon
