I want to change my default Huawei Router to Some Good Gigabit/LAN optimized router for gaming where i'm able to change/update firmware, but problem is broadband cable is not directly connecting to router.

there is one white connector , a fiber cable (thin white cable) goes into box and connects with yellow thin another wire which connects to router, i tried calling Customer care, they said we cannot change router but i know we can use whatever router we want to use. so how should change my router and connect fiber cable directly ?

attaching photo from quora as i'm out of town atm.

Configure the Huawei ONT in bridge mode and use whichever router you want.

The smaller white box is the fiber termination box.

I did a little search and found out it's Fiber to GPON Optical splitter , I'm planning to Purchase this router Mikrotik . it has it's own linux based RouterOS. but i want to remove Huawei Bridge complitly.

It is just a termination box, it it just for your use. There is no splitting involved.

You need an ONT, it is not an optional component.
The Mikrotik router itself is good, although there is a newer model available, however you still need an ONT.

So basically i have to keep Huawei? currently it's not offering good interface and no QoS etc settings available there

Yes. That's why I said use the ONT in bridge mode. When you do that, all QOS and other settings would be on your primary router, not the ONT.

In bridge mode, the Huawei would just be a dumb modem. Just takes the fiber input and converts into ethernet output which goes to your proper router.

Yep, once you remove the requirement that the router also need to be an ONT, then you have lot many options.

The Archer C6 is a good cost effective model.

Mikrotik routers are really good too, if you can get your hands on hap ac2 it's a great device. However the config maybe bit more difficult than other devices. But it would give you much more flexibility. It would cost approx 5.5-6k

Bro i play BF4 alot on EU servers how is Airtel routing to various servers other than gportal and is the hit registration good ? Also which city are you from thanks

@Dreameater I'm From Ahmedabad and Routing is very bad in Airtel, plus getting inconsistent performance in day and night time first i thought it's router, OS specific issue but thing is it's coming from airtel only ! totally fed up now

In my experience airtel has best routing in Delhi.
Singapore is 80ms whereas all other ISP give more than 95ms and that too without stability.
