i agree with max... airtel cc reps are a flaming pile of shit. i can actually start a new thread here just on this topic. i bet anyone if he/she has got a prob to call their cc reps at different times and you are likely to get diff answers. dont know abt bsnl cause have no experience...but i can be pretty sure that it wont be any better....as for TATA hope someone puts some sense into them to lower their tarrifs and match others so that there is more competition....Reliance is no where in the pic right now, tand the the local cable fellas are unreliable...therefore the broadband war is basically fought between BSNL and Airtel. we need more players, so that we get better service.

There is NO broadband war. The local loop is still bundled. There aren't sufficient number of players. Actually there are a lot of players but they can't reach every nook and corner of the city. This causes area wise monopoly of each ISP. The local cablewallahs are the best example. They cut wires, burn the switches, pour water into the hubs of rival ISPs etc...

the local loop is bundled .... There aren't sufficient number of players.......i just remembered, this thread was on adsl/dsl right.... DUH. this forum lacks one thing and thats FOCUS. i'm sorry but i dont mean it in any other way. each thread devites into the "oh i so like to bitch" mode, otherwise we're fine.DSL is only the technique, ADSL/SDSL/VDSL/HDSL are the technologies. so ADSL is DSL and so is SDSL. so by using DSL alone it doesnt imply SDSL.why am i saying this.... seems like most people started off on the wrong foot. also the ratios 1:2 1:4 blah blah need'nt always indicate shared usage, it could also mean the network setup on downlink and uplink.

tumtays, where did you hear that the local loop is unbundled? I have yet come across any news saying that BSNL and MTNL will share their infrastructure???And yes, you are right about DSL. But generally, DSL and SDSL are synonymous. When any ISP advertises about their DSL services it implies SDSL.And yes, the ratios do indicate shared usage 😉
