BSNL FTTH connection via dish antenna?

Hello, I had applied for a BSNL FTTH connection, few days ago I received a call from a local guy claiming to be from the BSNL. He said that the FTTH connection will be provided via a dish antenna, which will be installed on the roof and not via fiber cable as no fiber is laid in the area. The antenna will fetch the signals from a nearby BSNL tower.
Please tell me is this legit? Will I even get the speeds from the antenna as claimed by the BSNL? Anyone else faced the similar scenario? I didn't knew that they are providing FTTH connections using the wireless antenna.

It is probably broadband-over-wifi technology. Airtel provides the same in my village at a speed of 2mbps. BSNL provides as much as 30mbps (in other parts of India, but not here). Please see: bsnl wireless broadband | BSNL Broadband

What plan/s does LCO provide you?
 
That's what I thought too. But why are they selling old broadband over wireless technology in the name of FTTH when I explicitly asked for a Fiber connection. I already have BSNL ADSL broadband 10mbps plan.
When I asked him about plans, he said all the plans which are available on the FTTH are available in this as well, which puzzles me.
 
First visit BSNL exchange to confirm they are providing this service or some private operator is providing this CPE. It will look like this (this is not the exact model).

Now obviously this is not FTTH as it is wireless.

Speed will depend upon how far bsnl tower is and clear line of sight is very important between tower and CPE.

About plans confirm from BSNL directly.

This thing has a lot of disadvantages that even Climate condition can disturb your connection.
 

I have used this type of connection (private operator) my experience was very poor but mainly because the main tower was too far 1km+ range with lots of trees and buildings between so to make this work I also tried to setup a repeater in between still it didn't worked out for me as now signal was good but electricity backup at multiple location became a pain in the a*s. Sometime the main router will power off, sometime repeater.

My neighbor used this for few years from a different provider, tower was about in 300 meter range, antenna was setup really high so not a lot of disturbance in between his connection was stable with 20 mbps. Rain drops is not much of an issue as lightning is some operators will turn of their transmitter during rain as precaution from lightning.

Try to avoid this type of connection if you have any other option available else you have to make some compromises. Also very important confirm the tower has proper backup electricity.
