Airtel is shutting down 3G around the country

I can confirm that it’s closed in MP and Maharashtra. I’m pretty sure it’s closed in other circles as well

Here in Bhopal. There is no 3G in my area. Only 2G/4G

if this happens to my place.. bye airtel(docomo) ,hi bsnl/jio or idea .. mm anyone knows any unlimited data plan ,cheaper ones in prepaid sims..

don't worry. there are also folks like me who do not have volte support on their phones. so we are going to get fucked as well.

Jio won't work on a 3G phone. And there is no guarantee till when 3G networks will be run by either BSNL or Vodafone - Idea.

Better get a 4G phone, because everyone is going to do the same. (BSNL is using 3G spectrum to run 4G - 2100Mhz)

better get a phone that has volte support on all operators. but than the list not having that support is very small. probably only include pixel 2 at the moment? lol.

oh mannnnnn crap... i was thinking to use this phone for some more years,wish we had some big coverages for wifi everywhere. and simcards for just talking 😛

3G is gone in Delhi NCR i believe since Jan end.

regarding this. even i thought that most people today have 4g capable handsets. that is probably true. but having spent a bit of time at airtel store over the last couple of days... i can say one thing. a lot of people are indeed stuck on 3g phones. i saw at least 10 people at airtel store complaining about poor internet speeds coz they are now getting 2g internet on their devices. almost every said that they did not get any alert from airtel regarding 3g shutdown. i don't think i got one but that's another issue.

there are also people who have 4g devices but are still on 3g sims. so they are also coming to store. they are lucky as they would now get better speeds on their phones with a free sim swap. but people on 3g devices would now have to get a new phone because well... 2g internet is basically useless.

i guess i also got lucky here in a way. that i changed my s10 lite earlier this month. i was also stuck on 2G airtel calls because of this shutdown. i didn't notice but calls were absolutely trash for the last couple of days. pixel 2 doesn't have volte on airtel. so my option would have been to either port to jio or get a new phone.

Finally airtel 3G shut down in chennai only vodafone and BSNL remaining @RummaanKhan

3G is still working in Hyderabad..
