What's the deal with Airtel's ping these days? One server I use to play COD4 online (based in Australia or S. Africa or something), usually gives me a ping of about 220. But every fourth or fifth day the ping goes to 370-400, and then back to 220 the next day.The CC people of course claim that internet gaming has everything to do with speed and nothing to do with pings. :wall:Are they testing something? What's the deal here?

CC people are the BIGGEST NOOBS... they'll only reply as is written in their scripts :wall: zzzz $^%^&%((&%#$#%%$#&)*()*(_())*(^&$#%$

I give them this reply... "I have used ur BOD service yet the pings havent changed... " After this they won't dare to say that gaming depends on Bandwith.. :madness:

The problem exists in almost whole of Delhi and NCR. I play CSS on Singapore servers where I get 80-100 ping. For me too, the ping goes to 250+ after some days and gets back to normal after a day or two. Something sure is fishy. Might be some testing maybe. Who knows!! But devoid of gaming in my free time, I really find myself passing s**t loads of abuses to Airtel network administrators. But I think they have installed a firewall for abuses too. 😛

The primeval minds of the CC ppl cannot comprehend because of the complexity and vividness of our abuses !! 😛

maybe they are deep scanning packets for intelligence gathering.

No you misunderstood. They are not saying that with a better speed you will get a better ping. They are saying that pings have got nothing to do with online gaming whatsoever!! I suppose for them ping is just a way to find out whether your PC detects your modem or not 😛 ("Sir, please click Start, Run, CMD, and then type ping 192.168.1.1").

It's happening to me too..a server in sg I normally get 100-120ms is now showing 400ms. 😡I hope those incompetent idiots fix whats wrong soon or I may just go into their office and knock a few heads together.

T.T same here... im also getting hi pings T.T Not being able to play MMORPG ... no CS also... auto kick because of hi ping.. :wall:

yea..seems their International gateway is choked up 🙁 ... and pings to websites within India is > 150 ms 😱 .... even their local network is cliched

BTW Guys, I made a discovery (although most of you might know it 🙂), if you restart the modem 3-4 times, you might get connected to the right router. I am doing it for 3 days, and eventually I get 100 ping router instead of 200+ ping router. Just a matter of patience. Hope this helps.

the issue was there confirmed with airtel tech. Today i am getting boost though.🙂

So they first sent a guy who wanted to look at the default stuff - DNs server settings, modem settings etc. I had to go somewhere and anyway knew he wouldn't do anything special, so I sent him off. They then sent a better guy (my regular CTO) who had a look and said that basically they have to keep re-routing traffic as and when demand goes up. At those times, he said your ping rates would change. Some would go up and others should technically come down. (Though in reality most of the COD4 servers go up, and very few come down).Long story short, he said this is normal practice of ISPs all over the world, and there's nothing one can do about it. Someone else nearby who also had the same problem with COD4, shifted to MTNL but that was worse, so he came back to Airtel apparently. So I guess we have to lump it.
