Vodafone Idea offers speed as a key differentiator to lift ARPU via RedX plan

Was wondering if this
1) Ethical?
2) infringes net neutrality?
3) Is it a tacit admittance that it's throttling speeds for other customers, especially pre paid?

They lost lots of postpaid customers due to network integration issues. To get them back this kind of strategy is used. Looks like they will throttle speeds in prepaid connections such a stupid move.

Their network integration is yet not complete. This merger led to too much spectrum for them to pay for, making scarce spending on network.
No investment from parent , so they were facing the same music thy competitors faced few years back.
VoLTE is still not active on IDEA Delhi circle.

Not sure about throttling consistently, but I’ve seen that Vodafone tends to slow down pre paid connections if too much data is used at a time. Dunno about postpaid because I don’t have one from them.

However, there is a lock-in period of six months for customers opting for it, and any customers changing plan before this time frame will be charged Rs 3000.

I have also faced this issue. For me after consuming some % of data from plan, speed abruptly goes to 2Mbps all of a sudden from 20Mbps.

Tested on Airtel, and no throttling there, be it prepaid or postpaid. This is the reason I have trust issues with Vodafone lmao.

Can confirm Vodafone most probably does throttle speed on prepaid
Maybe not a popular opinion but i would gladly pay a premium for better speed if Airtel launches a similar plan.

Yeah it’s like EE does in the UK. Their top plans offer more speed than the other ones. Although, I’m pretty sure the Indian consumers will not take kindly to this kind of a ScHeMe.

This is a norm in the countries like UK.
TSPs even disable hotpsot feature for certain plans.

No it is helping jio by acting neutral and bringing consultation paper when needed.
Soon we'll see minimum plans recommended by TRAI like in DTH/cable which Jio would be forced to offer.
All this after Jio gains top spot in mkt share.
