Apple bought beats right? plus it's not like you need to be in the industry for decades these days to come out with good products. their first phone basically revolutionized touchscreen phones and they have been setting the standard since then. and companies that invented the phones (motorola) or dominated the industry (Nokia) are all now owned by chinese companies churning out shitty devices that can't compete with other players that arrived on the scene much later (xiaomi).
it's people who make products. not companies. and you can acquhire people. the best in the industry. even if you don't get right in the first generation model, you would in the second or third.

interesting thread. most people think they are going to be great. most people are not happy with price and say Sony and bose are probably much better while being around 200 dollars cheaper. and these charge through lightening cable instead of usb-c. general perception is that you would soon see every influencer and tiktoker out there wearing these. and maybe if they turn out to be as great as airpods... maybe people would get used to paying 550 dollars for headphones in coming years. which i guess is also great news for their competitors who can now boost prices while keeping them just below these.

Thing is, Apple products do sell quite a bit based on the brand value and the “elite” nature of their products. I agree that while in most cases their hardware quality is good, it’s unfortunate that people value all of that over usability, which probably is similar to a lower priced product.
